Crysis Warhead is Coming to Steam

Crytek and Valve today announced an agreement to bring Crysis Warhead and Crysis to Steam, a leading platform for the delivery and management of PC games and digital content with over 15 million accounts around the world.

"The millions of gamers logging into Steam every week to play today's best PC games are going to love Crysis Warhead," said Avni Yerli, Managing Director at Crytek. "Crytek Hungary has done a terrific job creating this new experience while optimizing CryEngine 2, and we're looking forward to delivering it and the original Crysis as our first offerings on Steam."

"Crytek is one of the industry's great success stories, emerging new technology and talent," said Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve. "Crysis is one of today's leading PC franchises and delivering the original and Crysis Warhead via Steam is landmark for the platform."

The follow up to Crysis, one of the highest rated PC games of last year, Crysis Warhead will take players through the parallel story of Sergeant Michael 'Psycho' Sykes as he embarks on an intense, explosive adventure on the other side of the island. With waves of more challenging human and alien enemies to navigate through, players will once again be outfitted with the revolutionary Nanosuit and an arsenal of new weapons and vehicles to help Psycho complete his critical mission.Crysis Warhead will also come with Crysis Wars, a tailor-made experience for multiplayer gamers, featuring three diverse match types and 21 maps.

Crysis Warhead and Crysis will be available for pre-purchase via Steam starting this weekend, and expected to be released in mid September. Both games are published by EA Partners. For more details, please visit Steam Games and Crysis Warhead website.

Awesome, i think they'll want to fix this little mess up ASAP though
(two exact same packs for a different price, also i thought steam had nice little discounts when you purchase bundled games )

smart move, more gamers will buy it simply out of convince from steam rather than drive to a store and more will buy it via steam release than would have over traditional simply for the added convince

Typical - been eagerly awaiting STALKER Clear Sky and Crysis Warhead and they arrive within weeks of each other - I best get cracking on with Clear Sky I guess.

steam is great and i love to see command and conquer there to
as in you can install your games so many times you want, compared to Spore that only allows 3 installs

I don't get why Steam is still running with those rip off prices.

Steam: Buy Crysis Warhead® $34.99
http://store.steampowered.com/app/17330/

Play.com: EUR 20.99 Free Delivery (= 29.6905 USD)
http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/5826...t.html?cur=258

You don't get a DVD or a case and they want MORE for it. It's been like this for years and exactly why I won't buy anything from there. (+you get a tax on top of that price from Europe). I'm sure you can find it cheaper online in US too.

edit: and I'm not bashing Steam, it's a good service, just overpriced IMO

Woah, $34.99? Aussie here and it's only $29.99 for me

Edit: Well... the aussie dollar has hit an all time low i see, so my comments are a bit on the wrong side, man, 80 cents per american dollar is harsh

It says $29.99 on my Steam. Steam kicks ass. I'd rather spend a few hours downloading something than going to the store and buying yet another annoying DVD. I hate switching discs.

Hmh weird, Nordics only? Not that it matters to me that I get 5$ more price, but not fair for those who purchase it.

Guys, wouldn't it be very nice to add our original Crysis to our Steam account? e.g. you type your org. serial number and you get crysis -all up to date- on your steam account.

Very happy about this, I usually only buy games through steam. Every other company lets your purchases expire online which is total BS in my book.

well steam has its advantages, you no longer have to worry about damaging or losing disks (or kids/friends doing this for you), you can 'gift' games to people now as well.

my problem is that the steam mirrors in australia are SO DAMNED SLOW. i've never broken 50KB/s, even when i had 8Mb internet. (current net is 4Mb makes me sad)

That's true. Glad my BF2142 Northern Strike purchase from EA store is so old I can download it still for ever. Or at least I should be, haven't tried it in a long time as I saved the download.
