Magic Pro Releases Mini-ITX board with Sideport Memory and Wi-Fi

IN the past few months, an interesting set of Mini-ITX motherboards made it to the market. There are two primary classes of ITX boards: embedded CPU and those with CPU sockets. VIA and Intel have boards based on their small-footprint embedded processors, while others made innovative solutions with CPU sockets. The Minix-ITX, an AM2+ socket based ITX board, took it to the next level with a motherboard that fulfills most requirements of HTPC users.

Magic Pro, a Chinese company that concentrates on Asian markets has now come up with another solution based on the AMD 780G chipset. The board, MP-NC81 comes with 128 MB of Sideport memory to assist the integrated graphics processor (IGP) that's housed in the 780G chipset. The IGP supports UVD, it accelerates H.264, VC1 and MPEG2 1080p playback. It comes with SB600 southbrige which routes to four SATA II ports with RAID support. The board features a single SO-DIMM slot to hold notebook DDR2 memory. It supports AM2+ processors with TDP of up to 95W. A striking feature however, is that the board optionally ships with a wireless ethernet riser-card, much in the same way as some high-end motherboards from ASUS do. The riser card is said to support 802.11n standard.

this could be a really nice media based board, even without a new graphics card im sure you could watch videos and do other things on the onboard graphics. only problem then is if you wanted to add in a new sound card and graphics card because you might have a surround sound setup you want the best from

where is the ram slots is the ram onboard or summit

EDIT: just read it again and its 1 notebook memory slot good idea so you can save space i think

OMG, Thats one BIG mofo CPU for a mini-ITX. How did they manage to squeeze it all in! Hats off. Although for mini-ITX you need low power low heat... I think a LV Atom or Conroe is more suitable for such form factor.

Maybe, this board is ideal for 45W and 22W TDP Athlons they will release soon.

i was thinking those energy efficient cpu would be great, AMD is starting to power up in this sector because unlike intel it has a good Graphics division and chipset division

intels own graphics are just shit i would never use them even in a notebook i heard intels chipsets are good for overclocking thats why a lot of people use crossfire because you dont get intels own chipsets with sli

if i was in the market for a small pc id get this board would be good tho if it had a pci slot aswell for a sound card but hey it managed to cram all that stuff in already and the graphics arnt to shabby for on-board either they can do full HD

Awesome! I want one now. The 780g is perfect for pretty much everything save gaming. This thing is seriously wicked. You could basicly build an HTPC inside a VHS-box or something with it.

These recent boards looks much more promising.
Magic-Pro had a bad history of making cheap boards using low quality capacitors.
And yes the caps used to burst when they die.

I see nothing but solid caps, so it seems like they fixed that problem.
