New build worth it?

I am building this rig

CPU: Intel Core i7 3770K Unlocked
GPU: Power Color HD 7950 3gb/384bit ddr5
RAM: Corsair Vengeance (Dual) 2x8gb ddr3 1600 CL10
MOBO: lga1155 Asus P8H77 M PRO
CASING: Cooler Master Storm Trooper
COOLER: Corsair H100i Hydro Series CPU Cooler
PSU: Corsair HX 650watts (HX650), Modular
hdd/ssd: OCZ Vertex 4 128gb sata 3

Is this a good upgrade compared to my current rig??? (the i7 one) I will be adding my three monitors, and the HDDs from that rig.

How much performance increase would I get?

also, I will sell my current rig plus some other old items to make up for the price, and will only be really spending for around $250 to "upgrade" to that rig.

EDIT: can that PSU handle dual 7950s? I am planning to buy another one if I get enough money

Hi

not realy great choice for dual HD 7950's as the mobo only supports Expansion Slots
1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (blue) *2
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)
Source - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H...specifications

get a mobo that supports
2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8) *3
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)

SLI and Crossfire are never worth the money so just swap the graphics card and get one powerful card. Also add a ssd to the current rig. Everything else isnt worth it.

well choosing a "K" processor than a H77 chipset which ain't made for overclocking doesn't make sense, take a Z77 or take a non "K" processor.

Keep your current MB and CPU. Buy a SSD and two 7970. Or get a Z77 board

@ OP - after looking @ your system specs my conclusion is: just buy a new gpu.

Got my 5850 for about £70 each which performed on par with a 5970 @ £900. 4 years later even some of today's upper-midrange cards struggle to keep up!

My friend when done correctly CF can save you money.

I'm taking about new "high end" cards not clearance or any special offer.

-about the cross 5770 -i would choose 5850 any day and even at lauch it was cheaper than two 5770.

Me too, because a single 5850 is about as fast as two 5770s or a single 4870x2.

But what if you had your 5770 or GTS 250 for 1 year already? dropping in a second back in 2009-2010 would have upgraded a midrange card into something high end by spending 1/3 the cost. For LDNL to say its never worth the money I strongly disagree with, I'm not saying crossfire or SLI is always value for money but it has it's uses.

Crossfire at your own risk, its generally worth the money but if things go wrong then you will end up kicking yourself. Most people are better off getting single graphics solution, but those who want to take the risk and tinkering can do well with getting crossfire.

Yes I think $250 for the upgrade is pretty decent. You will lose overclocking, effectively making your processor a "downgrade" when it comes to playing games. Shouldn't be too noticeable thought, with the increase in graphics capability. As for the PSU, if you have the required connections I think it will be fine powering two 7950s (including Ghz editions).

Honestly, it's a waste of money to "upgrade" from a 2600k to a 3770k. The only difference you will notice will probably be higher temps with the 3770k. The 3770k is only about 10% faster than your current 2600k clock for clock, and the 2600k "should" have a lower running temperature, thus meaning it can OC higher, which would make it faster than the 3770k.

Keep your current motherboard and CPU(unless you can sell them for atleast 80% of what you paid for them) and upgrade your video card to a 7950 or better.

I question your willingness to upgrade from a SB platform with Haswell a few months away (unless it's delayed). Getting a 7950 would probably be good though since AMD doesn't seem to have any new, beefier chips coming out soon. Had you wanted to upgrade maybe 6 months ago, I would've felt differently.

Your 2600K at 4.5 GHz is fine. I know it's fun to build a new system, but not needed here.

Like said above, just look into getting the 7950 or a card in that range. As for crossfire, I don't know right now. Single cards are getting pretty powerful. Better to spend less on one card if you can.

That seems like the best plan and a real bang for your buck. I hope things work out well for you.
