Firefox 14.0.1 crashing

Since ive updated my drivers to cat 12.8's last night. using firefox has become a nightmare. I cant browse longer then 2-5mins without it crashing.

at first i thought it could be an issue with flash, so ive unistalled 11.3 and downgraded to 10.3 but the crashing still happends.

Ive submitted bug reports. but thats obviously not gonna stop the crashing and its totally made firefox unusable.

theres nothing that i can do but just use a different browser like Chrome.

anyone else having these issues??

I don't know, it seems to be crashing more often on me too (and I don't even have Catalyst).

well tried reinstalling FF, it did nothing and the crashing still continued so It looks like my new browser is chrome!!

first thing i noticed was how fast it loads up pages!

but i do miss the live RSS bar. thats something ive just gotta get used to. For the time being Chrome seems to be an excellent choice of browser.

I'm pretty sure you can get an app/extension for a RSS bar. Firefox has never been that good anyways so you made a good choice.

old habits die hard erocker - been rockin FF since 3.5 and while 3.6 was a good improvement, Its just been going down hill ever since.

thanks for the link MM, I think i better switch to Nvidia for my next upgrade. shitty performance in games is one thing but messing me about when im trying to browse TPU is asking for it!!.

How about switch to IE9 or Chrome?

I don't bother with anything other then IE9 now.

well, given the recommendations I am currently using Waterfox. I'll give it a moment before stuff starts crashing

-------

and puma the difference is you dont have an AMD GPU which seems to be one of the causes of the problems.

well never been a big ATI/AMD user, all the times i tried i had driver problems, so maybe AMD should start thinking about drivers and program testing more to make sure it works with almost everything out there?

if it's not just a bad firefox update from mozilla ^^;

Its a catalogue of failures tbh. Flash 11.3 was a bit sketchy with FF from the start but it worked.... In comes AMD with their drivers and everything just starts fucking up.

from what information i can find on the net (mainly guru3d) it seems to be mainly effecting AMD crossfire users or when you need to open up a big page where you need to do a lot of scrolling.

Ive got TPU set to see maximum threads per page and that kinda provokes it afaik.

id suggest reporting problems to all 3. only issue ive had is i cant update flash past a certain version without youtube n like sites being broken in ff where as they work in ie9. if there is graphics acceleration in ff like there is in ie9 disable it to reduce glitches. also most ff download plugins and themes\skins can cause random problems from crash to memory leaks. it would be recommended to disable all plugins and themes\skins for ff troubleshooting then enable flash only

I hear ya eidairaman.

but i dont run FF with a load of extentions, plugins or skins - In fact ive used the same skin since i was on 3.6 lol

Might just disable flash and run without it for a while, but ive already uninstalled FF so i'll try again if waterfox starts having trouble.

might have something on the machine causing FF to eat the ram. I definitely report issues to Mozilla and waterfox project.

I've had issues with the builds in the past on my old install of windows.
This time round I have not.
I have found completely uninstalling FireFox including all personal preferences and installing it from scratch works.

It seems there are remnants left of the old build causing issues with the new build if auto update is used.
