Best GC SSDs (non-TRIM)?

Getting a new rig together that will be running the ASRock Extreme11 with it's built in LSI 2308 chip and I plan on getting 3-4 128GB SSDs together in RAID-0.

So since I'm under the presumption that TRIM support still isn't available for RAID setups, other then Z7X boards from Intel...what would be the best option for SSD selection with solid inherent garbage collection. This can also be utilities combined with the SSDs, like the new Samsung's Pro included software.

Right now, all that I can think of is the Plextor M5 Pro, Corsair Performance Pro, and Samsung 840 Pro.

Thanks in advance for the input and help!

I've been running two Corsair Force GTs in RAID-0 for 9 months now and they run great. Just don't completely fill up the drive and any modern SSD will run GC frequently enough to keep performance from degrading. I saw that mobo, it's pretty beastly. Just when I thought my P9X79 Deluxe and 16+2+2+2 VRM phases was a lot. Have fun with that board. Just keep one thing in mind doing >2 SSDs in RAID-0. All it takes is one drive to fail to take you down and RAID-0 with 4 drives gives you 4 points of failure on the same "device". I hope you have a backup plan just in case.

TRIM and raid does actually work. As far as I know it only works on Z77 board and the most recent Intel Rapid Storage technology drivers, and you have to be using the Intel controller for the SSDs.

The new Samsung 840 Pro SSDs are amazing drives. Those would be the first ones id look at.

They only work on Intel boards or Z7X boards with hacked BIOS. So that option doesn't apply to my LSI controller on my X79 board.

And the Samsumg 840 Pro drives are not even available yet (will be tomorrow I hope), so besides the pre-release reviews, how do you know they are amazing drives? The Vertex 3 drives were amazing before they were released as well ....but we all know how you feel about OCZ now Phenom...

LOL....Well the Samsung 830s are some of the best SSDs on the market in terms of price and reliability goes and the 840 pros look to continue that. 840 pros seem to be like high end enterprise versions of the 830s.

System Specs

I have been running a pair of FTM32GX25H with the Indilinx 'Barefoot' internal controller and 64MB cache for years now in raid 0 without issues. Minor performance problems dealing with AMD's raid controller.
