Conan Game

Has anyone played the new Conan game on Steam yet? I'm not a MMO fan but I like Conan and the graphics look nice. Anyone have any experience with it?

I have not played the game in a long time, since release (2008)..
I did not hate it but there was really nothing to keep me playing over the MMO I was playing at the time.

From my understanding the game has changed a lot since release..so it may be worth a try.

Its free now after all.

I played Bear Shaman on PvE server in 2009.
Got to end game tier 2 raids and then lost interest.
Graphics is really nice maxed but game still feels somewhat unpolished in non graphics areas (I went back to check it out when it went F2P).
Nevertheless, by Crom and Ymir, It was fun!

I remember Conan being a popular game, and the only bad thing I heard about it was that it was too short. They added more content, but it was too late and players had move on or back to WoW. I've never been an MMO fan, because of the amount of money you can dump into those things.

Back in 05 when I was traveling and setting up new companies with Oracle, one of the network guys was deep into WoW.. Shit he told me he was playing and his 2 kids and was dropping around $300 a month.. He wanted me to play but I was to deep into BF2..

Played it way back.. if you're going to play it, choose a melee class. Imo, the way it was meant to be experienced. Haven't played it again. My mmo attention span really sucks.

300 a month? Yeah up NO. . I have really bad OCD so Ive always stayed away from MMO's for honestly health reasons. I have a very addictive personality. Took me a while to shake morphine pills. I think I might stay away from Conan. However if anyone wants to post in here in relevance I would love to hear about it.

More like 300$ a year maybe if they all had 1 account. It was 13$ a month per account and there werent any micro transactions back then if I remember correctly.

Yea, I think I'd be the same way.. If I really liked it I'd sink to much money into it. I think if I played I'd try to get the name "Sheldor the conqueror" from Sheldon off of the Big bang theory...lol That's the game he got Penny hooked on.. I can still hear him say, "Sheldor is back online... and AFK.."lol

For Conan or WoW? Like I said I never played them, but I'm sure WoW had microtransactions.. I asked him then how much was he spending on that game, and he said last month between him and his children was over $300 bucks...

You mean all those non game breaking bugs that start getting on your nerves after you see them few million times?
Best example is hair color bug, sometimes when loading a new area your character gets blond.
If you play most bugged class Herald of Xotli, you may loose your hair alltogether
also when transforming to herald of xotli beast form, weapon slot on your back gets offset each time so after few transformations your weapon floats in the air

I played Age of Conan for a little while. It was fun, now that it's f2p I may have to check it out again, but I have very little patience for 25GB downloads.

I didn't have any problems with AoC, I just got sucked back into WoW.

I'm surprised Kurgan hasn't chimed in, since he spent some time playing this game.

I'll just give you one because it was the main reason for me.

When you start the game you are on a little island and that is where you learn how to play the game. It's like a tutorial. The game is awesome. All quest givers are voice acted, in fact everyone is voice acted and its just an amazing start for a game.

Then you finally level up and get off the starter island and almost no-one has voice acting. I mean the starter area gets you all pumped up with fantastic immersive voice acting and then it just stops and I found myself having to read text instead.

if the game had been text from the start then I would have been okay but the game starts off with voice acting which really makes it fun and then it's just gone. There is the occasional voice acted bit but its rare.

To me it made me feel like they wanted to pull people into a game but didn't want to spend the money or time to follow through with the rest of the game. It was such a drastic change that I was completely turned off.

I still continued to play the game for a few months but I never got over that.

Just seen the thread, yeah I played quite a bit back when it came out. I really enjoyed what I did play, had a tempest of Set and a Conquerer. The reason I quit is because once you hit level 50 or so quests became few and far between, and you just had to grind out your last 30 levels, which was boring as hell. So I rerolled and made my Conq and made it to the same level and they had only added a few quests. So I finally quit.

I haven't tried the last 2 expansions, the game had a lot going for it, and a lot going against it. It's defiantly a unique MMO, has some great classes, and the melee can be a lot of fun (but kind of sucks after doing it for hours on end).

Maxed out the graphics were amazing for the day, but are still pretty good now. I honestly feel anyone who is into MMO's should try out at least the starting zone, it was really well done, and doing that allows you to see some unique classes and melee concepts.

It's not that there are no quests, there is dedicated 50-60, 60-70 and 70-80 level area.
Problem is that only starting quests have any voice over, some quest givers are easy to miss and some quests are very generic.
Bulletin board repeatable quests are grinding.

You mis-understood what I said. I said the reason I quit was there wasn't any quests, this was 5 years ago. I played in the beta and started with early access and leveled very fast. The game was immensely popular at launch (pretty sure it just cracked 1 million subs, they had to bring up a ton of servers right after launch to accommodate). But many of the "hardcore" players hit that grind wall that I hit, and many rerolled because grinding is boring, then hit it again and quit. For an MMO to be truly successful you need to have that community of people that really pushes the limit of the game, and that wall where quests disappeared cut many of them out.

It bad enough you have t buy a MMO game but to also pay per month to play? I dont think so. Not happening ever.

It kind of comes with the name, don't think other games are that much different. You want to play BF3 online? You are playing on servers hosted from other peoples paychecks, same with many other games. And if not like that, then they might live off DLC or Microtransactions. the reality is, it costs money to keep servers up, it costs money to pay people to work on patches and such. And games money intake drops extremely after it's launch, usually not enough to keep a massive game with servers up and people to keep patches coming.

If you got a better idea on how to do it, you should bring it to these company's.
