Is this a good deal?

A local shop is selling a Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1200W for 5,750 pesos (around $145). I don't need it at the moment but is it worth it to buy it now for future use? Or I could sell the PSU that I'm currently using (Corsair AX650) and replace it with this one?

Definitely a good deal. $100 dollars less than I can find anywhere else.

Should I go ahead and buy it and keep it as a spare or would it be better to replace the ax650 with the 1200w?

Your current build isnt in need of a 1200w psu.I would def buy it though and keep it around for later

Seriously it's all marketing scam now. People don't even need that much power. Just calculate the total power you might need and add 20% more power to it. Why? For aging capacitors so it will last more years but still keep in budget. As long as the psu is cleaned sometimes and you watch the fan for working condition it may last for a while.

Thats what I would do.

For reference on power amount. My 4.5ghz 2500k and 1300/1600 7970 and all the works uses just under 500 watts.

Also, a psu's greatest efficiency is at about 60% load.

I was also thinking about that... I'll hold on to it for a while and after their sale ends I could sell it at a higher price.

It is brand new. Went to check it out for myself and currently they only have around 5 units left. I think I'll grab one tomorrow while they still have some.

The times that we expected to increase PSU power just like other upgrades are OVER.

Buy and sell if you want-can spend time with it.

If you plan to CF later, I'd buy it. That is still a lot of power for CF, that's more for triple CF.. But if you do plan to go CF later then your current psu won't handle it. Plus, your going to spend that on a new PSU that can handle it.
