information about RAM

Hi friends.. I have a doubt about RAM that I'd like to get clarified.

What is the performance of a RAM that is clocked higher when installed in a board that supports lower clocked RAMs?

eg: DDR2 800 RAM on a board that supports only DDR2 667

In this case I'd like to know if DDR2 800 RAM performs better than a DDR2 667 RAM.

Well of it works then none. If a board runs only 667 and you put 800 in it and it runs at 667 then thats all. No benefit. If the board supports 800 then yes

Now if you overclock the CPU using the FSB its going to also overclock your ram which it should handle just fine because its rated for 800

Simple answer is yes. 800Mhz RAM is going to be faster than 667Hz RAM. Would you really notice a difference? Probably not. It would show up in Synthetic Benchmarks more than a difference you could "feel"
But if the board only supports 667Mhz RAM using 800Mhz Ram would just result in it running a 667Mhz unless it had options in the BIOS to run it higher.

You might be able to tightnen the timing on the higher rated ram running at lower clocks, but you really wouldn;t notice much difference in performance.
