Which skt 1155 Cooler from Microcenter?

Picking up a 3570k and MB tomorrow in Boston. The 3570k will eventually be underwater, but I'm going to do some bench testing first with air.

That cooler should come with hardware to mount in on various sockets

Then perhaps the CM Hyper 212 Plus, the CM 212 Hyper Plus has similar cooling performance as the Evo version. The European version of Hyper 212 EVo seems to have a lower rpm fan (max 1600 rpm) than the one from other regions (max 2000 rpm). And the "Evo" makes use of "plastic clicking system" clips for attaching the fans which could break way easier than the metal clips that are included with the "Plus" cooler. So in the end, the CM Hyper 212 Plus isn't such a bad choice.

Hi,

if you are using the CPU cooler as a temporary cooling solution before switching to water cooling in the very near future, then the Hyper 212 Plus is in my opinion more than good enough. The cooling performance between the two coolers are just a few degrees celsius anyway.

Though a French review is saying the opposite thing about the cooling performance of the "Evo" (versus the "Plus" CPU cooler): the Evo does not perform better than the Plus edition.

So are you eventually going to keep the cooler that you buy, or are you going to sell it once you have your WC kit? For me, I would def pay the extra $5. I got my EVO and it keeps my CPU frosty @ 4GHz (35c/60c). The stock cooler would have my CPU going all the way to 80c+ on load while playing BF3. It will go a long way until you get your watercooling system up and running for your CPU.

Ether one is fine EVO or 212+. The EVO is slightly louder at full speed and the pipes are closer on the contact area providing better heat transfer. They both come with one fan and mounting hardware for a second fan.
