Wireless N Adapters

Well guys I'm moving into a house that I'm splitting the rent with a few others, they have a wireless N router on a cable network, I was wondering what Wireless N adapter was going to provide me the best reception of any. Bear in mind Ive had a rocky past with Linksys WRT54GS ver 5.0 which after a certain firmware update was crappy. It was also unreliable for gaming, wireless I couldn't find the network and I was like 2 feet away from the router on a Laptop. After that i switched to a Netgear WPN824 ver 2.0 and it is Pretty Good for a Wireless G Router, My laptop easily found the router and I havent had any problems with it gaming.

So just to ask what Brand and model wireless N adapter PCI would you suggest i purchase?

N has better range and bandwidth than G, but its still not going to be good as a cable.

Dont know about specific models, but N is a good choice.

If possible get the wireless router on the highest spot in the house...
Wireless N has 3 standards that are recognized... Draft 1.0, Draft 2.0 and the final which is NOT backwards compatible with the other 2 because it uses the 5Ghz band.

Believe it or not, I have this card and have had absolutely no issues with it using a D-Link DIR-655 router. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833180052

I forgot to mention im unaware of where this Wireless N router is but i believe is a Linksys (not sure if its dual band but apparently has the wide antenna), and this Will be in place of a 2 Story House, So I just hope this stuff works out otherwise im going to probably wind up getting a Range Booster or even just send a patch cable to my bedroom.

He specifically said wireless N.

For a rough idea, my DIR-655 on the first floor feeds a perfectly good signal up to my third floor where the missus has the iMac with the crappy built-in Airport N card.

If a PCI N card has problems, it's only because the manufacturer coded bad drivers. At which point you return that card, and grab a different one.

Somebody claiming that ALL PCI N card have troubles in Vista x64 is a bit far fetched, and nonsensical.
