Game Reviewers

I just played Bionic Commando for an hour. And I enjoyed every moment. And this game has rating of 5.5 at Gamespot. Why because it was not open as prototype. Yes that is true but it is 10 times more detailed. Controls are great all that swinging it is easy but feels like you are doing it not as automated as on prototype so it gives so much pleasure.

My point is there are a lot of great games out there that are great fun but because of bad reviews people don`t give them a chance. Games are not cheap so people do some looking before buying the game. Reading reviews plays big part in choosing games.

I don`t know what is the problem with reviewers i guess they feel smarter that way. And that is not too big surprise coming from people that biggest computer achievement is learning to install a PC game.

Anyone that played Bionic commando knows what I`m talking about. And many other games with bad scores.

Every one should name a game that has bad score and was great game.

Very fair comment as there are a lot of people that actually started building their rigs for the purposes of having a gaming rig.

Nice R9

i have felt like this for a while, i think if they are going to rate games based on features and other cookie cutter things, why not just automate the process.

EDIT: the process of reviewing and rating them i mean

Re-Volt got mediocre ratings, but I love it, same with Postal 2 and Road Rash 95.

No I did not. I use game pad in games that not require aiming (racing, football etc.)
Your point ?

Yeah, funk game reviews man. I don't think games should even be reviewed at all, as wether you like a game or not is a matter of opinion (except in the case of Big Rigs Over the Road Racing )

Thats why the best place to look for reviews is metacritic. Your always going to find one person who would hate something that is perfect. But to get a average of numerous magazine at least can give you a better idea.

I know other Capcom titles have come with a benchmark (Lost Planet, Devil May Cry). Does this one as well and if so what kinds of frame rates are you getting? The trailer looks great!!

as an ex reviewer, i know all about the things you're made to do, and the hoops you have to jump through.

The simple problem is that the reviewer may be forced to play a game genre he hates, or it may have one niggling issue that gets to him and him alone - and poof, bad score.

The only way to make a review fair for a game, is to get 3-5 people to play it and review it, give their average score and choice snippets of their comments.

An example would be trine. The last level was exceedingly difficult compared to the rest of the game - some gamers found it to be a great finale, being harder and putting their skills to the test. Some gamers (me included) thought it was stupidly lame to change the entire style of the game, for one level (thus making some people love the ending, and some people hating it)

I'm a mouse and keyboard gamer - so i had no issues with the game. The game allows coop play with gamepads only* - but the kicker is that they only tested it on xbox 360 controllers. Since i played it coop with a friend on a 360 controller, my experience would be totally different to playing with a friend on generic logitech with poor control.

*(and in a recent patch, more than one mouse and keyboard)

Yeah... for instance I think Final Fantasy 7 is in the top 10 best games ever, but there are others who couldn't even begin to imagine themselves playing that sort of game.

I wouldn't trust any reviews from these big popular sites ive heared alot of things about how they actually review games usually people say they get paid by EA or watever game dev company creates the game. Best way to check is to use user reviews

Too bad because if you have had given 10 more min you would not have problems with controls. I hate them at first then I get used to them and have more sense later on.

More like a 50 pound salt block.

If I'm looking at a game I've never heard of before, I'll glance at Gamespot and see what they ranked it. I might look at Wikipedia quick too. I perfer my own opinion over a "professional's." If what I gathered says it might be at least worth trying, I'll try it. If there's something somewhere I saw (like the letters MMO or word "horror"), I'll pass.

I check out most games that are recommended to me by an individual and most (if not all), I liked. Then again, my list of truly crappy games is only two and a half long:
-Big Rigs Over the Road Racing (broken)
-Restricted Area (too damn repetitive)
-Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust (broken but they could/should fix it)

HA! You said PLAY Final Fantasy. People haven't been PLAYING Final Fantasy since like the third or fourth one; just watching the 45 minute cutscenes.
