MSI Intros NF750-G50 SLI AM3 Motherboard

MSI is ready with perhaps the industry's first SLI-supportive socket AM3 motherboard, certainly its first. The MSI NF750-G55 is based on NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI chipset, and has its AM3 socket powered by a 4+1 phase circuit, that supports Active Phase Switching that powers down redundant power phases when the load is low. The socket is wired to four DDR3 memory slots supporting up to DDR3-1800 by overclocking.

The nForce chipset connects to two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots that arrange as electrical dual x8 when both are populated for 2-way SLI. Apart from this, the chipset also embeds a GeForce 8300 class IGP as a fallback, or for GeForce Boost features. The IGP connects using D-Sub, HDMI, and DVI-D. Other expansion slots include two PCI-E x1, and one PCI. The chipset provides six SATA II ports in all, one of which is designated as eSATA on the rear-panel, next to one gigabit Ethernet, a number of USB 2.0 and FireWire ports, and 8-channel audio. The NF750-G50 has started selling in Europe for under 100 Euros.

The layout seems ok , the cooling seems ok , 8x SLI is ok , 5% slower than the 780a as far as i know ... good board imo .

finally some alternative to AMD chipset boards, really nice for SLI fans who wanted to use AM3 chips. In my opinion RAID is better with NV chipsets than any other chipset.

I wish they had 16 X2 for the GPUs and the lower PCI should have been switched with the lower PCI X (that way you had the option of either PCI or PCI X.

It looks like its a bit narrower than a reg board too, cool for smaller cases.

Yeah it only has 2 spots to mount it to the case, and the board patially hangs over because it's not quite long enough to reach the 3rd mount. I don't like that deisgn.

I think what Hat meant is if you force the power plug or memory there is nothing behind the mobo to support it.
I use little plastic things in the holes but most people dont have them laying around

And that shouldn't matter. The stress is evenly distributed, and the PCB is good enough to handle the bend. I've used an ASUS M3A that has a similar screw pattern. Swapped memory, played with connectors. Nothing can go wrong. The PCB will not bend enough to short anything.

I use them whenever I buy similar layout boards and it has been supporting really well. The SATA ports are also on the right spot, so I think the design is clean enough. Space around the CPU socket area seems decent to mount a monster cooler like Xiggy 1283.

No, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but it IS unfavorable.

Well i was starting to worry ... p55 mainboards are not on the market yet , but i saw more pics with the i5 based motherboards than AM3 boards ( witch are around for a while ) . It`s nice to see AM3`s popping out here and there .

Wow MSI ftw. I was starting to worry AMDs DDR3 power would go with no SLI. I just wish we didnt have to continue to use the shitty older Nvidia chipsets.

This board looks very cheap IMO. Especially the heatsinks. Definitely wouldn't buy even though I like MSI. I would wait to see what other manufacturers come up with, especially a new chipset.
