Vista as a Christmas present for OEMs

Windows Vista is likely to be shipped to OEMs and system intergators before Christmas! Unfortunately, it looks like the retail version will be available later, in the first quarter of 2007. By the looks of this deal, large PC companies, such as Dell and HP, should be able to sell more PCs during the Christmas period if they have Vista pre-installed .

well then we can laugh at how high those vista PC's sell for, and then benchmark them (XPS Vista vs. XPS XP)

You know what this looks like to me? It looks like Microsoft is putting off Vista because thier such butt-buddies with Dell. Not only will the fact that Dell will be shipping Vista over the holidays boost their sales, but the fact that you can only get it from big OEMs will boost them even more. If you want Vista this holiday, you'll be forced to buy a Dell, or some other large OEM... Also, this means that Microsofts "delay" in Vista probably was just a marketing scheme. Oh the horrors.
