You should be able to, I remember flashing my 8800GS to 9600GSO just for a bios fan fix, all I really had to do was edit the timings so thats all you should need to do I guess.

lol.. if you could do that... I want the old card back.. At the price of a 8400gs...

subscribed to see.

in my way of thought, if the specs are right on all fields, then it should be able to.. look at the GT250's and how the Maximus Formula board can be flashed to a Rampage Formula board.. I don't see why not.. but I don't have the card anymore to try.. lol..

I dont think you cant because the 8400GS was made on the 90nm right? and isnt the 9300 65nm wouldnt that make some short of difference? Even so, you can Hybrid SLI with the 8400GS in the first place..

I flashed my 8800GS with a 55nm 9800GT and GTX+ bios before with no prob so I see no reason why this shouldn't work

no, 8800GTS/ultra that was on 90 nm, 8400GS was on 65 nm, so it basically same card with different sticker and different bios string

its a "G100" but also the 8400gs

http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/205...A_8400_GS.html

The card says its a 8400gs on the tag. but the GPU-z reading says G100 at 65nm and a G98 core.

its relatively easy...i personally think its easier to flash nvidia. look at my mod guide for the commands. However i will warn you card changes can be more dangerous than a simple bios mod or update. your in essance turning this into a diffirent card...make sure you have some pos fx5500 or something lying around. their is more i can do to the bios so if it doesnt work right lmk and ill tweak it more.

I like to make my USB drive bootable to DOS and use nvflash. Just do nvflash blah.rom and it will ask you are you sure, press y to continue, wait for a while and you're done. You might have to use the -f flag to force the flash because nvflash checks the bios for integrity first. Changing an 8400gs to a 9300gs would probably offset the integrity so you would have to force it.
