Foxconn Cinema Motherboard Hits Retail

Foxconn's newest entry to the HTPC crowd is the Cinema. Part of its Digital Life series of lifestyle products, the Foxconn Cinema is a micro-ATX motherboard based on the AMD 785G + SB710 chipset, supporting socket AM2/AM2+/AM3 processors from AMD, with support for DDR2-1066 memory. The ATI Radeon HD 4200 class integrated graphics processor (IGP) makes it capable of smooth full-HD video playback, accelerated by the IGP. The IGP is further aided by 128 MB of Sideport memory.

Video connectivity options include D-Sub, DVI-D and HDMI. On the audio front, apart from the audio that Radeon HD 4200 provides over HDMI, the board's 8-channel audio CODEC supports Dolby Digital and DTS decode. Expansion slots include two PCI-E x1, and one each of PCI-E x16 and PCI. Connectivity options include gigabit Ethernet, USB, and FireWire. The Foxconn Cinema comes in two variants, Deluxe and Premium. The difference between the two is minor - a heatsink over the 5-phase CPU VRM for the Deluxe variant. While the Cinema Deluxe is priced at 11,680 JPY (US $125.5), the Cinema Premium goes for 10800 JPY (US$ 116).

Very similar colour scheme wise to some of DFI's offerings.

Calm down little boy, this isn't school. Everyone is entitled to an opinion on something and should not be called an hypocrite for their views...this is a forum after all.

Sorry for that, back on topic; this board reminds of of DFI boards due to the colours...not that its a bad thing as I happen to like orange (its surely better than blue!) and this board certainly does come with a whole lot of features.

I say perfect for anyone looking for an HTPC on the (semi)cheap with the potential to make it a gaming platform too, win win.

The only disappointing thing is lack of 8 channel audio over hdmi. Not foxconns fault but reading the specs would indicate that it does. Its a little sneaky.

The 785G only supports 1 PCIe 2.0 16x slot. If you want a micro ATX board with 2 x8 slots, there are plenty of 790GX AM2+ and AM3 boards out there to do CF with.

I smell ignorance.

Foxconn is not just a brand. It's a huge OEM.

Holy shit that's sexy. I love the orange and black layout, considering that shade of orange is my favorite color.

Not really. It's a direct conversion from the Japanese Yen, so it'll turn out expensive. If we can get direct distributor prices, I bet it would be around $80 to $90, considering the quality that I see in the screenshots.

A computer has to look pleasantly to the eye, even if you just see its internals upon oping the case. I built my moms pc using a case without window, and you don't see a single calbe when removing the side panel.

Anyway back on topic: This board screams BUY ME and I say YES! Seriously it looks like it was destined to play HD content, which is a very good sign. I have a HTPC in mind for quite some time now and THIS is the board I must get.

I am not an "Orange" fan but it is 1 very good looking mobo.

There is no reason why you cant show off the guts of a kick ass HTPC.

Huh? 790fx has no onboard. 790GX/785g etc. does. OCing isn't the primary reason for HTPC's which is what this board is meant for.

That's what the 790FX/SB750 combination is for. 8x-8x-8x-8x for CrossfireX power.

In either case though, the 790GX and 785G chipsets aren't weakened at all by the IGP. Someone was even able to unlock a 550BE to quad core and overclock it to 6GHz+ with a 785G/SB710 (BIOSTAR) motherboard. Lack of resources I think not.

Or in the case of my 790FX/SB750 ASUS ROG Crosshair III Formula, 16x-16x for CrossfireX power. Even if you did have an IGP, you can still disable it in BIOS.
