LGA775 Motherboard with Q6700 support and AGPX8 ?
I need a LGA775 Motherboard with Q6700 support and AGPX8. Anyone knows of any models ?
My P4 (Which I used as an HTPC on our second TV - I have a replacement ordered and on the way for it, though) rig died due the MB going splat. I've been having a hell of a time trying to sell off the HD3850 AGP (Nobody wants the thing locally, and if I ship it out of the country, I am not going to get much from the sale due to the price differences in computer HW), and I have no place to use it in, which is a shame. If I get a mobo (off ebay or something for relatively cheap) I'll be able to put it to good use in my second HTPC downstairs. Thanks for any and all help !

I'm not entirely sure if such a motherboard exists. If it does, it'd probably cost a lot more than it is worth. Might be better off just to press on and keep trying to sell it.

In general, I am just exploring options. If I can find one of these (or other ones that will work with my Q6700) for cheap (Say 30-40$), I'll grab it probably...

be warned, a lot of those boards actually ran the AGP slot off a PCI slot. So AGP cards would fit in the slot, but performance was dreadful(similar to putting a PCI-E x16 card in a PCI-E x1 slot, only worse). Not sure if that board did this or not, but just warning you.
You should be able to get rid of the HD3850 on ebay pretty easily, AGP cards tend to go for a pretty penny there. I think the best option would be to go with a cheap G31 board, then hold out until you can get a PCI-E video card for the machine.

Asrock Conroe865PE and 775i65G.
Look at benchmarks. The AGP 3850 and Q6700 will pwn a PCIe 3850 at same clocks. Might sound surprising, but true! AGP has lower latency and direct DMI which wins over PCIe at same clocks. If its just for an HTPC and to watch movies....why not sell the Q6700 and AGP 3850 and move on to some low-powered AMD setup with onboard video??
It will do the job just fine.

... or consider the Zotac board with onboard wifi and Geoforce 9300 and DVI. http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a419730.html
For an HTPC you can underclock the Q6700 to keep it cool in a small miniITX. |

Well, this Q6700 setup is currently already running (The current setup is Q6700, Abit I-N73HD Mobo and 3Gb of RAM inside a Nzxt Hush), so it isn't like I am building a new machine. I am just exploring the option of giving it enough power to play games on the TV as well, and with the death of my P4 this is one of the options.
I won't sell the Q6700 for a dual core simply because I've encountered quite a few encodings of media (Specifically some Anime) with which my old E5200 at 3.9Ghz was unable to cope (And getting GPU to decode everything is a fuss I really prefer not to deal with - Especially since it isn't as reliable for non-BD-ROM content, it simply doesn't always work. I've tried this on my laptop's 8600M GT, some things still fall on the CPU). But seeing the price on these boards, I'll just keep trying to sell the parts and get something like the HD4670 or the GDDR3 HD4650 for some low-power gaming on the TV. Thanks everyone.

PS. My main machine is still Quad on AGP. See my spec. Asrock 775i65G. The big-brother octo xeon is for exactly the same issue you have: video encoding.
