Hard Drive Disk Error

One of my customers just sent me a message regarding a HDD error.

This is the information he gave me.

"Said there is a disk error and it keeps trying to fix it via start up repair

Was fine this morning, turned off normally now won't start up because this disk error thing"

He's only had the system for a few days and I only had it for a week, just wanted to know if this is fixable or should I just RMA the HDD straight away?

Does he allow it to go completely through the process, or does it repeat?

He says it just does nothing for ages, I've told him for now to leave it running as there is nothing I can do until tomorrow.

Although as I said he's only had the computer a few days so there won't be much data etc to slow things down.

It gets to the start of the windows seven loading screen, then it switches to the windows repair loading screen after awhile.

There's no specific error code or message, it just says errors detected and repairs will be attempted.

Or words to that effect.

You will need to reinstall the operating system. I know what you are talking about. (I think)
It'll ask to do repairs or something similar. Then when it tries to, it says it can't. Then you just have an endless loop.

Reinstalling 7 should fix it.

Before you do a fresh install you should try using the OS disk and try to do a check disk repair on it first and/or see if the OS disk see's your previous install of the OS and try to do an automatic repair of it.

If that fails then go ahead and do a fresh install.
