Radeon HD 5870 1 GB Gets First Listing

Nearly a week ahead of its launch, Dutch retailer Salland Automatisering briefly listed a Radeon HD 5870 1 GB accelerator from a now-masked manufacturer (we are fairly sure it's Sapphire, looking at its part number "21161-00-50R" that resembles the part number scheme of other products from this manufacturer). Since Salland's pricing is usually consistent with those of other major European retailers, it gives a coarse indication of what you would have to pay for a Radeon HD 5870 1 GB: 268.90 EUR (excluding taxes), 319.99 EUR including taxes applicable in The Netherlands. AMD's Radeon HD 5870 1 GB accelerator is slated for September 23. It also comes in a 2 GB variant priced slightly higher, and an Eyefinity Edition planned. Salland was quick to withdraw the listing.

It definitely will. I more likely will end up buying some more parts, the force is to strong.

Hmm worked it out at £276 (268e without tax > GBP +15% = £276)....
either way i may have to juggle some money around to get one or wait a while .... but I want one even though it probably will be bottle-necked by my current setup!!

Well, I am sticking with ASUS or InfoTek on my future card purchases. They are a better OEM than Sapphire when it comes to build quality. From the looks of if, these cards could be chucking out some major heat.

Pfft bugger paying that much even for a brand new spangly dash card, I think these guys are doing a newegg if they put it up for sale on the day for that much, seeing if people buy it at that price.

I'm not buying it until its at least 230 pounds.

Id really love one, but not sure I can afford it. Want to get my copy of Win7 preordered when I get paid, so may settle for a 4890. Maybe then sell it when prices come down.

Despite the Euro to dollar conversion rate, I'm hoping for a $350 price at launch for the 5870 (it is an American company after all). I wonder what the higher end part will go for.

If that price is roughly correct, it must mean the MSRP is $399+tax as some sources suggested.

If its $299+tax that store is ripping off dutch customers.

Since they claim that they are generally in-line with the market, $399 will be the MSRP it seems.

Remember to adjust for your local tax rate. Anything bought from newegg I thought wasn't liable for additional taxes.
