Good gamepad for "old school games"?

Hey guys, I decided I would like to play some games on my netbook during any breaks at school. Some old school classics......what is a good, and cheap, option? Thanks in advance mates !!

If netbooks support Bluetooth just pick up a PS3 controller, being wireless will be nice.

nope, they're straight USB.

windows vista and 7 have drivers built in, XP has a download.

they also have the odd ability to connect the 360 headset to them, and they show up as a USB headset in windows.

I see. Hmm, that would be an option, but I HATE the 360 control for Street Fighter 4, so I am guessing my issues will carry over

i went to it from a logitech, many games i played needed me to hit the "analogue" button on the gamepad, but it swapped the wrong stick >.<

havent had any issues with the 360 controller yet, but i havent played SF4 either

I use cheap PS2-like controllers from dealextreme, they cost only a few dollars and work fine.

i had the one on the left.

Some games wouldnt work without hitting an analogue button to swap between stick and Dpad, but for whatever reason it would change the right stick instead of the left one (meaning you needed 2 left thumbs to use the damned thing) - from what i read, its not unique to this one gamepad, and various older logitech models had the same issue.

They do feel a bit cheap, though that's what they are. They have been working fine so far. Delivery usually takes about 2 weeks to .nl.

I've loved my Logitech Rumblepad 2 ever since I got it, but think it's more mid-range price-wise, rather than cheap. It has huge support and can emulate keyboard buttons for games that don't support it + it feels really solid.

I agree that the 360 is more or less universally supported in games.

I would steer clear of Logitech gamepads...I have gone through 3...analog sticks keep going out...I went to this Saitek a year ago and have never looked back --->http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-P2500-R...5V?ref=prid-20 ...It is great for emulated games...And it is wired...no dead batteries right when you are planning on gaming. Good Luck.

You can get a PS3 controller if your netbook supports Bluetooth. The controller might be a bit expensive, but they're tough and withstand most nuclear blasts.
