GTX 275 Woes!

I wanted to get the 1792MB Version of the GTX 275 by EVGA but I'm sorta tight on cash ATM. I will be buying either now or at Christmas time. Can someone find me the best deal in Sydney...any help would be much appreciated!

Also will prices on GFX cards be dropping by around Christmas time? Will I be able to purchase a GTX 285 2GB by EVGA around that time? Is it worth the wait?
I'm soo >>>

Don't think these mentioned ones are much worth/at least lower than now by then(don't believe 285GTX will come down that much), but same price range on christmas time I'd get some new fancy DX11 card. Since well, it ain't all bad to have support in same price and I doubt those cards costs any more than 275 now. Of course heard NVIDIA having some issues, atm, so might not be on market even on then while ATI 5800 series probably already are.

By christmas time, you'll be looking at HD 5800's and GTX 300's. The HD 5800's come out on Wednesday..

by Christmas you'll have HD 5850(gtx 285+20-30% with a single 6pin),and and maybe Nvidia will also have a GTS350 by then. And trust me('couse I'll probably be backed by others) a EVGA GTX 275 1792 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-476-_-Product is a bad decision to make days before the 5850 priced 300 US

I'm not really looking for an ATi card. I'm getting the card now! So which card...the 896mb version or the 1792 mb version of the gtx 275? Is there really a difference? (NOTE: I love anti aliasing and ans tropic filtering!)

At the resolution you use, the extra memory will make no difference. Get the 896mb version.

get a gtx 280 refurb...

or this one

http://www.digitan.com.au/product.ph...t=1903&page=13

IDK how much you pay for the 275 1792, but if its not cheaper than the 280 in au, then I would grab the 280...

1GB should be fine...

http://www.staticice.com.au/index.html << that may help.

In that case, buy the monitor first and get the video card around Christmas time. With new cards coming out in 2 days, it's a bad idea to make a purchase as prices on Nvidia cards will come down. Since you like AA and AF, I would suggest a HD 5850 as it will easily have double the performance (if not more) than a GTX275. Even at 1920x1080 the performance increase form the 896 version to the 1792 mb version is minuscule.

I'd stick with the stock GTX275 then. An extra 2gb or RAM would be nice too. 2gb just doesn't cut it anymore.

^^ nice balance on that build... I think he is getting 4 sticks of the 1gb

If you could wait for the 5850, then I would... 2-3 days and then you will see a massive price drop on the GT200 series.

Not doing it today anyways...
Still have to convince his mum and dad that a 12 year old knows what he's doing.
Any tips?
Also...100 off the cards?

True...but:
A...I'm not for AMD cards.
B...It'll probably be next march before anything happens here anyways.

hMM... pee in their morning coffee? show them what you have built now?

Dunno how far the price of the GT200's will fall, but it will fall for sure... but it *should* fall pretty dramatically.

The single biggest tip is to watch the ebays and the craigslists... All the rich peeps with 295's will want to dump them and buy a 5870(s) the day it becomes available.

xD @ pee in their coffee (might try it)
The 295 won't be new though will they?

right... i meant that there are many ppl who MUST have the best of the best... when the 5870's come out in 2 days, most of the people with 295's, 285's, 275's will want to sell what they have and jump on the 5870 bandwagon. And they will sell at a better price than a store.

so ebay will flood with cheap gt200 and HD4xxx cards (and probably some s775 SLI boards even)... It all depends on local availability though. If Sydney doesn't see a 5870 till christmas, then everything will happen slower.
