One meter underwater? Pffft. Hardly what I would call "water-proof". My dive computer has no problems at over 100 ft. down.
"Extremem Durability" seems a little over-the-top too.

Let me know when the thing can surivive at 3 atmospheres (about 30 meters down) and I'll consider getting one.

Yes, I scuba dive... yes im active... but i dont expect to take my portable hardrive with me when i do this lol....
I use my pc when im clothed and dry (unless checking out dirty pornos then im covered in cream lol kidding!!!

whats next a drive you can take into the bath with you :P

No, and I understand the fact that in 99.999% of time this would hold up well.
It's when they label a product as "Extreme (fill in the blank)" that I get miffed.
There is nothing extreme about spilling something on your hard drive or dropping in a puddle.

Here is extreme ...
You're on your boat. There is a leak in the gas line of which you are unaware.
Someone lights up a cig and the boat gets blown out of the water and then sinks.
Everyone is rescued by the Coast Guard and recover in the hospital for several weeks.
A couple of months later you go looking for the drive that went overboard in 60+ ft. of water.
You find it, it has a few barnacles growing on it but it still works.
That's "Extreme Durability".

I can see me taking this to the rigs, outside on the plants on the laptop.

Usually have to program controller's on a control pannel outside of the plant... And I have alot of data to carry around, so I think this is a good idea for a external HDD for the extreme conditions (snow or its raining) and just waterproof is a key so I dont have to worry about it being wet

whats next fire proof/resistant casing lol, then oil proof, oh wait then dirt proof, hurricane katrina proof, bullet proof, what element could we possibly think of next that will not harm our precious data saving storage apparatus unit device thing a ma bogger square shaped tool. bluetooth has pretty poor speeds, even compared to USB 2.0 (which is slow by most standards)

not to mention it would still need power, which means a metal on metal electrical connection that also would not like water

Hmm thats funny (looks over at own 2.5 external) this looks like a 90s Sony Walkman with a stolen USB chord design.

I think the point of this is exactly what i needed it for. About a month ago i was living in a tent where it started leaking at the seams. My 2.5 carries all my valuable data like pictures and stuff. Years of pictures. I was afraid of the drive getting wet so i would take it everywhere with me. Something like this would prevent that worry (like somebody mentioned). Its not ZOMG EXTREME CONDITION HARDDRIVE!!!!11111oneoneoneone eleven. But you get the point.

You are the tipical Nerd/Geek of your class, and to make fun of you, your classmates invite you to a party at the beautiest girl house, wich have a swimingpool.
