Scythe Intros Kama Stay - Extra Cooling Solution Utilizing a Single Expansion Slot
Scythe presents the new product, Kama Stay (Model Nr.: SCKST-1000). A simple very flexible product for mounting additional fans into an unused PCI Slot. The set also includes a manually regulated 120 mm Slip Stream Slim fan. Kama Stay is a highly-adjustable cooling platform that can be mounted onto an unused PCI Slot. Improved stability is granted by screwing the frame to a case like a common PCI expansion card. Once installed, Kama Stay allows you to mount all kinds of fans in many different positions. Even 140 mm fans can be used with this new accessory. Due to its high flexibility, Kama Stay helps you to adapt and improve the existing Airflow in your PC case.
Keeping your system cool is not the only task Kama Stay can handle. Optionally, you can also mount up to three 2.5” HDDs or SSDs. Just set the frame to the matching height and fix the drives with screws. Supplied 120 mm Slip Stream Slim fan works in an operating-speed range of 800 to 2,000 rpm. The fan speed can be controlled by using the pre-attached potentiometer located in the PCI bracket. Scythe Kama Stay is now available for EUR 12.25 (MSRP, excl. VAT) or US$ 19.00 (MSRP, excl. TAX.) ![]() Product Details Model name: Kama Stay Model No.: SCKST - 1000 Compatible Attachment: (3x) 2.5“ HDD / SSD Fan 80 ~ 140 mm Fan: Slip Stream Slim 120 mm Fan Speed: 800 (±30%) ~ 2.000 rpm (±10%) Airflow: 19.40 ~ 45.75 CFM Noise Level: 19.53 ~ 33.67 dBA Bay Occupancy: 1x PCI Slot Dimensions: 295 x 34 x 153 mm (15.55 x 1.34 x 6.02 in) Weight: 330 g (11.64 oz) Accessories included: Screw for Hard Disk Installation (8 pcs.), Screw for Fan Installation (10 pcs.) |

Heh, almost looks like a licence plate outline for your PC!
More seriously though, I can tell you right now I would not want my HDD/SDDs floating so close to my heat radiator I call a video card.

looks like a good idea....
I have the cosmos S that already has 3 twelve inch fans on the roof... so i wont need this... i guess only neccessary if your case already has bad airflow... and in that situation wouldnt you just be pushing warm air upwards into the roof with no where to go?... (eg circulating around the cpu area and screwing up the natural venting out the rear 12" fan?) |

This would be a pretty cool piece for DIY tech stations.

Got you thinking Don? how is the project going? Made any 'blue prints'?
I have to say pass on this for most cases, unless you have a case that has no HDD rack. Hum, what about that a case with no HDD/DVD rack, could be an interesting concept to keeping a MATX system. Allthough this would probably not be the best alternative for that since Height would probably be a factor.

Yeap, but I think is nice in case you have to front fans... Although using your hdds as temp divisors might not be the best idea... Unless you put this in the lower pci..

It could just be me but from the looks of the brackets, it seems you could fit another 120mm fan if you just move the existing one to either side?

Would've been more useful, IMO if they'd made it shorter so that you can only fit 2 drives - then it would be able to fit in smaller chassis. Would be perfect for mATX cases that are often limited in HDD bays; put your OS SSD on the rack and your data HDD in the bay, and off you go.
I'm also wondering how well that frame is going to bear the weight of multiple drives, as it already looks like it may not be rigid enough...

Didn't they already announce this, it was plastic then, without the fan and speed control... This looks much much better.

I think its a great idea say for a pair of ssd's in a Micro atx build with just one high end gfx card, it's saving a lot of space in my imaginary build.

It's a good idea, I actually have 2 fans blowing air to the upper part of the gpu but stuck with tape. This could be handful for me. And to put more hdds on my minipc, it hasn't more room to put more. |
