Nah the black Dimms are supposed to be used first on his board. Now if he had 6 sticks of DDR3 installed and it doesn't boot then there would be a problem. You cannot test the non-black dimms until the black dimms are populated. I have had two X58 MSI's and they are both this way.

Thank you everyone that pitched in and helped me troubleshoot this thing! I am grateful!

Im loaded onto win 7 i had on the old q9550, gonna tinker around then do a fresh install soon.. but everything looks good thus far.

Man, that would have sucked! if this thing died.. you have no idea how rocky the road to i7 has been.. getting rolled off [h] for my first board.. then this today.. phew... im glad its working at least.

Thanks all
Hope you enjoy it, I'm sure enjoying my i7 setup.

I just assumed the blue dimms were where I needed to be.

I'm idling at 39-40c and this joker is insane.

I dont have a good video card to run 3dmark06 or vantage with but I fired up winrar bench and it's getting 2600 points while this is stock. The q9550 @ 3.8ghz wuld score 15-1650

3.8ghz on q9550 on cinebench would render the bike in 53-54.. this i7 920 at stock does it in the same time.

Now it's 5850 time!

Thanks again fellas!

Did you try the second Dimm slots?

Did you check all power connectors including the extra 4 pin or 8 pin cpu power connector?

Is the "easy OC switches" that I added a picture of earlier in the right setting?
