Not using my TV as a TV anymore, its going to be a monitor. I've used it as a monitor before and its great ;D. So I hook all 3 monitors to my 8800GTX (2 DVI and 1 Svideo). But apparently my card only support 2 monitors. It can see and display on all 3 monitors just not all at the same time. Is there any way to get around this?

Nope, sorry, you have to get a second card for the 3rd monitor (even an 8400GS is fine if you don't plan on gaming on the 3rd monitor)

It will work because the 2nd videocard won't be SLI'd or CF'd. You don't have to use a 8400, you could use a card from either company. It will just be another gfx card powering it's own display, but I don't think your games will run on it or anything. I think its time you start looking towards a 5850 or 5870, pushing 2 monitors on a 8800GTX at a decent res will be pretty taxing. And with CF on your mobo, a 5850 should fit the bill very well.

Yep, easily. You can run any two (or three cards, if you have 3 PCI-E slots) in a Crossfire board without issues. I ran a 9600GSO and a friend's 8800GT in his P5K-E for a while without any issues (we were running 3 monitors as well)

I"m a student and dont have enough money atm for the 5 series. Although I REALLY want one :(

I've been running 2 1440x900 monitors on my 8800GTX fine for almost 2 years.

Would any DX9 card work. Like a 7600 or something stupidly cheap? And dam I just got rid off 2 6600GTs :(

I am pretty sure any card would work, I don't think your games will be shown on the 3rd monitor.

BUT if you want those 3 monitors for gaming then as 1Kurgan1 said, Radeon 5800 series would be a good choice.

There is a way to run 3 monitors on a single 8800GTX but it requires Matrox TripleHead2Go device, which is way too expensive and totally useless since Eyefinity came up.

EDIT:
Na Games are on my middle monitor while there is movies on one and apps on the other.

So adding another video card seems to be the best way. For movies/apps any PCI-e would be sufficient.

Ah if your only gaming on one monitor, then your setup will work just fine, pick up some cheap GPU and you'll be set.

while it should work, i've ran into boards where you cant mix and match like that.

for example, i've seen systems where you cant run two ATI cards on an SLI motherboard, even out of SLI - the system wont POST, or the second card refuses to initialize.

S-video tends to look like total crap coming from a PC anyway - and the more modern video cards (such as the ATI 5 series) dont even include it as an output anymore.

I do agree, grabbing a cheap ATI card would most likely be a better choice, would hate to risk it.

Anything will work, I ran a 3rd monitor on a 6600GT for a while (alongside a 9600GSO)

Meh I'll grab a cheap PCI-E card. But yea, I dont like gaming over 3 monitors. Espcially seen as I have 2 monitors the same asnd one different. Maybe in the near future.

then you run into issues with running nvidia drivers and ATI drivers at the same time, which isnt as easy as it sounds. even should everything play nice, he'll run into problems such as how nvidia disable GPU accelerated PhysX when non-nvidia cards are detected in a system.

i hate to sound like a pessimist on this topic, its just that i've ended up disappointed time and again when i've tried these things in the past.

just try and borrow one first if possible, and make sure it works before spending money.

you should be able to run 2 video cards from different manufactures aslong as your running some flavour of windows xp. for vista or windows 7 you will need to stick with nvidea as you cant run with a different manufacturers drivers on vista or 7 because the way the operating systems control the video drivers.

as far as i know you should be able to run any 2 nvidea cards together to drive independent monitors. you only need matching ones for sli.
