Need a smaller case - 700d replacement
Hi, I'm in 1st year of uni and I'm looking for a new case so that I can take my PC
to uni with me as I currently have the Corsair 700d case and its rather large. I'm not going to be taking all of my parts with me as at home I run a large RAID setup So I'll be taking up with me what's in my specs minus 4 of the HDD's with a new (undecided) GFX card. So I'm looking for a case which will fit the my specs. Any recommendations ? |

I'd look at one of the lian li mini Itx cases.
something like this. http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/cust...pid-14652.html then just grab a mini itx motherboard for your I5 and your sorted. You'll just have to do a CPU swap to the main rig when you come back home. personally i would find this tiresome. especially if you have to rewire the PSU every time you come back. so the other option is to look to get a totaly new case built. Grab the Mini itx motherboard, a cheaper CPU, a mid range PSU and a Mid range Gfx card. That way if it gets dropped or stolen from uni you will loose less money. Student halls and houses are a major target. Added to that you cannot guarantee the people you share a house with will come home and even close the doors after themselves when drunk... Trust me i've seen it happen!. a build like this is pretty cheap compared to loosing a full blow tower. http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/c...52021n2ed.html http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/c...80623g630.html http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/c.../h61m-itx.html http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/c...2a1600c9b.html http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/c...677x-znlc.html That comes in at less than £300... roughly the cost of the 700D and the PSU in it!! lol. |

Have you thought about shipping the rig with UPS or another shipping company?

this might help you decide!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h77e...eature=related Oh and a disclaimer about the case i posted from Novatech, The PSU in it might not be up to the needs of the Motherboard and GPU. You'll have to check the total wattage of the system with the system wattage calculator. http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp |
