9.12 drivers bringing substantial performance bump to HD5000 series?

As was reported to us from a company-source, runs the HD5800 series and HD5700 series is not yet at full power.
Thus, the full optimization is only with the 9:12 Catalyst Drivers have happened, as shown in the changelog.
This is the googlish version. Original version here.

So, could some driver optimizations bring enhanced performance to DX9 and DX10 games, in a DX11 GPU?

Currently we have the cat 9.10 and 9.11 betas (or whatever you want to call them). For me, they perform a lot better.

Eastcoast, do you have a 5XXX card? If you could at some point do a couple comparisons I think it would be a benefit to the community. I always felt the first reviews of those cards seemed crippled.

Let's see how these drivers materialize. Hopefully they will get a lot better to help ATI keep people away from Fermi: The Paper GPU.

not running at full capacity? does that mean that not all shaders are being utilized by current drivers, or does it just mean that current drivers pale in comparison to up coming 9.12 catalyst drivers? either way i hope this increases performance across the board for the HD 5XXX series by %5+

The specs of the card are much better than the performance of the card. It's got more than double the internals of a single 4870 and performs worse than a 4870x2. Riddle me that.

All these new things and nothing new for the 3000 series I feel Left out... I mean the new ATI OPenCl Drivers don't even apply to the HD3XXX cards. Its to soon to kill support for them.

its not just on paper, they surely have real, working chips..... but it are very, very few, and they are too slow with developing the chip, regarding yield losses and general cost, and they dont even have designed a pcb, all these chips run on programmable chip sockets at Nvidias FABs

EDIT: i somehow dont find a changelog. anyone a link? :-)

o believe me i kno lol. i started the "HD 5870 below expectations" thread. i had expected the HD 5870 to be at GTX 295 performance or above. but anyways, anyone know when these 9.12 cats are supposed to be released? N why are they already talking bout 9.12 when 9.11 isn't even out fully so how would ATI know what needs improving for 9.12 if 9.11 hasn't been officially released? And since the 9.11's haven't been officially released why not implement the improvements for 9.12 into 9.11? ugh lol some things in the tech world just blow my mind. unless 9.12 is released around xmas time. HEY maybe that's what ATI has been doing, just holding back HD 5870 performance for when GT300 is released...maybe? lol

NVIDIA FANBOY!!!!BURN HIM!!! ;roll: jk. but then didn't ATI get a whole new team to write drivers half way through the HD 4XXX series? So we can't really base expectations on past ATI driver releases. I just hope this isn't a bunch of hoo-blah. Though on a side note i wish nvidia would release some stuff like this, actually i take that back, i wish the would leak/mention SOMETHING. lol who wants to start betting who is gonna win this card gen? my money is on ATI
