EVGA Announces GeForce GTX 275 Co-op Graphics Accelerator
EVGA's Halloween offering, the mystical graphics accelerator with two different GPUs - each handing one kind of task - is official. Behold the EVGA GTX 275 Co-op PhysX accelerator. This unique graphics accelerator uses an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 GPU to handle the primary task of graphics processing, while offloads GPGPU related tasks, such as game physics acceleration using the company's PhysX technology, to a second GeForce GTS 250 GPU. While the GTX 275 component has 896 MB of GDDR3 memory across its usual 448-bit wide interface, the GTS 250 has 512 MB of it across its 256-bit wide interface, 1280 MB total on board (though not the total amount of memory available to a 3D application).
While not intended to be a true dual-GPU accelerator in essence that the two GPUs work in tandem to render graphics, the design ensures that the GeForce GTX 275 works with zero overhead from processing PhysX. The two GPUs are not part of an SLI multi-GPU array. With the provision of two SLI fingers, users can pair up to three of these in a 3-way SLI array. It is logically possible to pair this with other normal GeForce GTX 275 accelerators as well. ![]() The construction involves placing the two distant cousin GPUs on a single PCB, each with its designated areas for memory and VRM, and connected to an NVIDIA nForce 200 bridge chip, which connects to the system over a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 interface. The design is heavily borrowed from NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 295 (single-PCB). A centrally-located fan blows air onto heatsinks located on either of its sides, which cool the GPUs. The display is handled by the GeForce GTX 275 GPU, which connects to the two DVI-D output connectors. ![]() All said and done, EVGA expects significant performance increments over the vanilla GeForce GTX 275, in games that make use of NVIDIA's PhysX technology. EVGA's GeForce GTX 275 Co-op carries the stock number 012-P3-1178-AR. Listed on the company's online store, it is priced at US $349.99.

Blah... physx is dying and the gts250 is overkill for physx anyway. Should have used a 48 shader 9600gso or something

Too late in the game. If it was $239 or better these would fly.

the card looks plenty cool IMO, but the price is soooo wrong, sell it for the price of an OC 275 and they have a winnar.

Show me a 5890 with an onboard GTX275 chips for physics..
I'd sign over my whole paycheck for one, and I make $30 an hour.

Smells of desperation, great if you love Batman
" the only physx title worth mentioning " everyone else with half a brain just go get a 5850 and ignore this travesty.

A GTX 275 runs batman just fine without a dedicated card on max setings. I should know I had a 275 and batman aa.
I doubt evga is desperate, they are probbaly just bored. How long must they wait before they can sell next gen cards? And in that benchmark graph, who the hell plays any of those games anymore? Some might play batman but it quickly faded from the radar. Ive never even heard of star tales.

Funny, two of those results in the OP are not even games. Darkest of days looks promising tho

Darkest of days is a very poor game, check out the reviews, EVGA are really scraping the barrel.

i played DOD it looked cheesy and it felt even cheesier. loose controls, unrealistic feel over all.
physics consisted of leaves.

i hope there will be some tests around, this card looks like it could do the PhysX very well...
what if you play at 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200 and highere wouldn't the GTS250 with 384mb be a help in the high resolution 'cause it needs to generate bigger objects that use PhysX for the graphic?

The idea is nice. But wouldn't EVGA need to release some custom drivers just for these special cards?
I sense a driver issue "coming soon".

So the list goes down to only two games worth something on their list. Considering that this card costs as much as a GTX285 and is faster than it only in Physx games, its going to be a hard sale

no special drivers are needed since the gpu's are not in sli, its just 2 cards sandwiched onto one pcb meaning when your not using physx or an app that uses cuda one of those gpu's are not even used.

Other than that, it's like having two GPU's.. and yet only being able to run 2 monitors! It's more fun than a barrel full of monkeys. |

Love the idea, but too little, too late in a very competitive market.
Unfortunately this is a first casualty when you try to bring a different approach or hybrid to market. |
