Borderlands cd key on g2play

Was on g2play and noticed that they have a borderlands cd key for sale (bought from them before and they were good). I heard before the game was released that borderlands was't going to have a cd key (apart from steam version but it says no steam activation). It would be easier for me just to buy a copy for me and then buy a cd key for each of my friends from g2play but i'm not sure how that would work if the game doesn't even use a cd key :S

Maybe it gives you a link to download the game from the 2K website or something? Has anybody bought it from g2play and can tell me what happens?

I have absolutely no idea, but bump for you.

I would just suggest doing the 4-pack on steam with your friends. It's easier to link up that way, too.

Its not on the Valve Retal CD key list so it cant be activated that way.

As for CD-Key sites, Alot tend to host a bit-torrent file for you to download after you buy, or you have to email them. Or some people choose to download it from alternate sources *cough*

Remember though this is a gray area.

I've bought a couple of games from them without any kind of issues. I generally stick to Steam or EA Downloader games, but if you know someone that has the game install disc, there's no hurt in using it to install your own game using your own cd key. I'll save money where I can, but imo, as long as you're still paying for the CD Key you're not STEALING the game. G2Play and CDKeysDirect have been pretty damn good service-wise, I've yet to have a failed key, or any activation issues. I actually have a buddy on the waiting list for when G2Play get's more Borderlands keys in stock, a buddy locally bought the dvd copy of the game. I pre-ordered the game on Steam, but kinda wished I would've waited...paid $45 when I could've paid $22....makes the value that much better when it's a good game imo. But if you feel it's shady or don't trust it, yeah, simply don't read any further into it or try it out, I've had no issues with buying CD keys from the two sites I mentioned and be able to keep it legal, if you are unable to...pay more for the box or steam version to be on the safe side.

Its not that i dont trust the webiste its just that as far as i know the retail boxed copy does not have a cd key, which leads me to believe that you have to activate the key somewhere but not on steam as it says no steam.

Are you sure about them?
Not the most intelligent sales reply is it?
Doesn't state what the key does, unless your paying for the private tracker/torrent that they own?

After some discussion about this subject on another forum post, the Steam version of Borderlands does not have a CD key. We also believe the retail physical copy does not have a CD key and uses a "disk in use" security scheme (meaning the disk has to be in to play). I will verify the Retail CD key tonight with a stop at Wally World and post later.

If you want to buy the game I say go with Steam, especially if you already have other Steam games. I have also seen this game pirated and there was not keygen or key hack. I will not say how security was compromised because I do not condone such activity.

Basically what I am saying is it is a scam, but not in the fact they will not provide the game as promised. It is the fact they are charging you fee for a product (the CD key in this case) that does not exist.

Keys from these kind of sites are being revoked for MW2, cited as being unauthorised resellers by Steam.
