It's a shame they were not as popular as they should have been. It was a good console. Good luck!

If I wasn't so attached to most of the sweet games (including powerstone 1 & 2 which I have) that came out for it, I would have gladly gave it up long ago. It was only a fail console because everyone was sony crazy at the time and sega didn't get the support they needed to stay alive thereafter that console war. It is a gem of a console no doubt about it. All I am looking for are new controllers for it(not the 3rd party garbage), which are practically impossible to find even on ebay.
Good luck man. edit: Just looked on ebay and it seems like theres a sloth of new Sega controllers being sold from a few sellers.

I might have a trip around Barnsley looking at the game stores. We have a SHIT load of used game stores. I've found ZX spectrums in them before. Granted the price tag was stupidly high but I didn't expect anything less.

Too bad you aren't in the US, I was thinking about selling my DC. I still have it, a bunch of games, a VMU (or two), and a few controllers.

I loved my dreamcast, until it just stopped working one day. This was about 10 years ago.
I had 40+ games and sold them to retro cex in london for about Ł200. Hope you have luck getting one

Why did the DC fail?
The PS2 was backwards compatible with PS1 games and the majority of gamers at the time had a PS1. Also the PS2 played DVD's and at the time was one of the more affordable DVD players (similar to how the PS3 was with BD) many in Japan bought the PS2 simply to watch DVD movies! That and the fact you could burn DC games and play them without a mod chip didn't help either. The DC was the first optical based system to have 4 controller ports (the PS2 came out later and still only had 2) and also the first to have a modem for online play right out of the box. It was a great attempt by Sega and did pretty good for the first year and a bit but died quickly once the PS2 came out. Seems nothing could touch Sony during the late 90's really. Nintendo went from SNES (king of the gaming world) to N64 (the little kid in the corner) thanks to Sony in the late 90's. |

Dude, I've got one sitting in the cupboard at my gran's! I'll check if it's still working for you on wednesday. I think the box is long gone though since I've moved house 4 times since I saw the thing. I'll get some pictures up on wednesday night as proof of it functioning. You may have to do some repairs to the controllers since the character used to wander around the screen when the controller was sat there (bloody difficult to play Rayman like that!). I've got a few games as well if you want them.

Dreamcast was the shit!
1st console with cross-platform support! Quake3 DC vs Quake 3 PC on specific servers! 1st console with modem + broadband support! I had a blast playing Quake 3 online vs PC players... such an addictive game. Map19 and that rail gun instagib mod, omg so much fun. Makes me wanna buy a dreamcast also and setup a dedicated server lol

15 quid for the console, 4 controllers (2 or 3 third party), I've got 3 VMs and 2 rumble packs as well I think, obviously all the cables are somewhere too, that sound good to you? I'll figure out how much the postage is going to be once I've checked it it's working.

Did you get this sorted Th0rn0? I've found mine finally but it's limping along (by this I mean takes 10 minutes to start and generally being weird, sorry that it's not working. Hope you can get some means of using this awesome console sorted, perhaps Gamestation might have one?

I have a LNIB Dreamcast, 2 memory cards, two rumble packs and about 35 original games plus 200+ ROM's with all the great stuff I remember playing as a kid.
![]() I also have a clear green N64 with plenty of good stuff with it....I liked the Dreamcast more though! I just wouldn't ever be interested in selling any of them as the memories are too good.

Awesomeness, Dreamcast IS the best console ever released in my opinion. I've been in love with my DC since 1998 (released in Japan in '98) and still think it's the greatest thing ever. I'm still on the original system and it's had no problems in 11 years of use now which is awesome too.
I'm actually getting the 'final' Dreamcast game to be released next month for no other reason than because it's being released. I'm almost afraid to say something about it just in case you vultures try to grab up all the preorders. Can you believe it....11 years later and there is a new game coming out lol. Now what they need to do is keep releasing Dreamcast game for Xbox Live Arcade and all will be right with the world. ![]() Kei <---- bleeds SEGA blue

The failure was due to the low cost compared to the high production cost of the dreamcast. The original MSRP of the gamecast(lol, anyone?) was $199, which came with a modem, and a system that challenged the PS2 in graphics. Remember that the dreamcast was not discontinued until 2006 in japan.
