The World’s First Commercially Available Total Liquid Submersion, High-Performance PC

Hardcore Computer, Inc., the industry’s most innovative computer design and manufacturing company, announced the launch of Reactor, the world’s first commercially available high-performance PC with total liquid submersion cooling technology.

Developed for hardcore computer users such as gamers, graphic artists, audiophiles, industrial designers, engineers, medical imaging technicians and military technologists, Reactor was designed for performance and quality with patented technologies and innovations never before available in a desktop system.

Hardcore Computer, Inc. submerged all of the heat-producing components — the CPU, motherboard, video card, memory and power supplies — in a custom dielectric fluid they have named Core Coolant, eliminating heat-related computing limitations. Reactor incorporates the benefits of liquid submersion cooling with twin additive and redundant server-class 650Watt power supplies; audiophile-quality Creative Labs X-Fi, EAX, 7.1-channel Dolby Digital surround sound embedded on the motherboard; three on-board SATA solid-state drives configured in an ultra-fast RAID 0 array; and two truly hot-swappable external hard drives.

Form following function, Reactor has a distinctive look. Locating the majority of I/O on the top of the case for easy access resulted in the unique Spinal Cord cable management system, another industry first for a desktop system. Also on the case top are optional, dual, diversity Wi-Fi antennas. The system chassis incorporates handles that serve as a means for transporting Reactor. The handles also aid in the removal of the system core, which includes all of the computer’s active components, from the liquid for maintenance or upgrades. Over-clocking enthusiasts will appreciate a CMOS battery and BIOS reset switch located on the lid, inside a push-push access hatch door. Reactor also sports user-selectable internal tank and chassis base lights.

The result is a cool and quiet state-of-the-art system that provides full-throttle processing, sustained over-clocking, HD/3D realism with maximum frame rates, an easily upgradable modular design and a rugged custom chassis. The liquid submersion technology also ensures stable, 24/7/365 hardware reliability.

“Based on market research and early adopter feedback, we’re certain that anyone that requires or demands a system with fast boot and application loads, reliability, cool and quiet operation and over-the-top benchmarks will appreciate the innovations that Hardcore Computer put into Reactor,” said Al Berning, CEO, Hardcore Computer, Inc. “We have taken a quantum leap in computing technology by offering features never before seen in a desktop system.”

Reactor is available for purchase through the company web site at hardcorecomputer.com. Systems are available pre-configured or built to specification through the Hardcore Computer, Inc. system configurator, which allows for quick and efficient selection of compatible components.

Hmmm, a new car or totally submerged PC... decisions, decisions.

Oh, and enjoy the new pics I uploaded, its a damn sexy looking case, would be cool (no pun intended) if the case was available on its own. Though I get the feeling it wouldnt take standard componenents

Looks very trick...But at the same time it would probably be a pain in the ass to maintain or change components, not to mention the prices! Don't get me wrong, I'm not cutting it down, that rig is very intense and I can appreciate what they've done here.

No, the componets are as proprietary as it gets....

The motherboard for example has a integrated creative x-fi complete with a 64Mb X-Ram module... and they didnt just throw it on the mobo, they made sure it's paths stear clear from powerlines, or anything that can cause interference.

The cmos battery is situated on top behind a mask, easily accesible together with a cmos reset button. (Link)

The RAM sure look plain though check this out: (Link)

Trip stinks. No really. He stinks. Hush Trip. You're evil. Evil Incarnate.... If Trip shows up with that pc in his specs, I'm flying to Australia, hiring a bushman with 20-30 dingos to terrorize him until he gives up the pc, and flying home with it.

these are wicked simple to make all you need to remember is optical drives and HDD's cannot be in them. As for everything else get mineral oil which is crazy cheap and do it...what you do is gat a fish tank that is dep enough so your while mobo fits....then you modify your io back plate or even cheaper you take some brass hooks and run them through the mobo screw holes and hang it on the side of the fishtanke....then fill it with mineral oil allll the way up..and because mineral oil is heavy make sure that your pump can take it get a high flow then just trn it on...its perfectly safe to run 24/7 and mineral oil barely evaporates if at all..ill do one for you guys this summer.

If some of you guys are interested in this, here's a good read that'll give you some ideas. You can do this for about $200 dollars and some spare time, so no need to spend $4000-$12000 on one.

but are they using mineral oil on this case or something else? Mineral oil does not cool as well as water, so I was thinking they might have something that cools better than mineral oil in there but does not short anything.
