budget?
I'd say somewhere along the lines of a 9800gt/x+

I'm looking to spend at most $100 also im interested to know where the curve of GPU power meets the actual benefits.

9800gtx for physx? thats way overkill. I saw a great improvement in physx games just by dropping in my old and crappy 8500gt, and it also ran the simulations flawlessly. Get something cheap.

so youre saying if that gtx275 was replaced with a 4890 and the 8600gt was set as dedicated physx then I would have ran flawlesS??
come on...... you need at least a 8800gt/9600gt imo.. 9800 at most. problem i ran into with my 8600 was bec. 256mb only + 128bit ddr2 .. my statement you qouted was to state that an 8600gt could not handle being set to "enable physx processing" as a standalone dedicated physc card.. regardless if the gtx275 was good enough or not. i'd get a 9800gt. that way if you ever decide to sell your main gpu, it dies or you need to rma for whatever reason, youll have the 9800 to keep you busy in the meantime.. plus it'll handle physx without issues ymmv sorry for grammar, getting late.

their most be a reason why EVGA made a Nvidia card with GTX275 and GTS250 on one board...
so you can use GTS250 gpu together with 384mb GDDR3 memory for physx, but maybe that mean in the future physx will use more power in the future when games become more and more detailed or what?

it should be compared to 9800GTX/+ ino that, but in some tests 9800GTX+ is faster but the GTS250 should use lower voltage if you get a powersave edition...
it's just all that talk about a 8600gt i think there most be a reason to but GTS250 GPU and GTX275 GPU on the same board not just to get rid of all the GTS250 GPUs... >_>

I use an eVGA 9600GT Low Power card, handled Batman:AA on high PhysX without issue paired with my GTX285. And no Kenshai, the GTX285 is not handling the PhysX, the 9600GT is, and there was definitely a drastic improvement when I added the 9600GT. With just the GTX285, the PhysX has to be lowered to normal to get stutter free gameplay, when I added the 9600GT I would raise the PhysX to high and still get better framerates.
I'd say a 9600GT is a minimum. Batman:AA actually recommends a 9800GTX/GTS250 for the high PhysX setting, but my 9600GT seems to handle it fine. And remember, nVidia just recently added the requirement of the card to have 32 Shaders minimum to handle PhysX, so an 8500GT wouldn't even qualify anymore. If you can find someone selling one of the good 9600GSOs, that might be your best bet. They go for extremely cheap usually, and are great PhysX cards thanks to their 96 shaders.

I think those cheap 9600GSOs with 96 shaders but 8 ROPs is the best choice.

9600GSO 96 shader, or the newly released GT 240 would be great for PhysX

My 256mb 8600gt does not do well for dedicated physx.. it just ran slow and redick. and just slowed down the gtx 275

ok i have the 8600gt set to physx in nvcp.. and 9800gt is default i suppose. using fluidmark physx benchmark Without the 8600gt set to physx ![]() With the 8600gt set to physx ![]() Don't know how relevant it would be to real world gaming, but in this bench, a 8600gt helps improve the score i suppose.
