Anyway, the question is how well it OCs.

At stock it runs 6 cores at 2.4Ghz. My i7 runs 4 cores at 3.33Ghz. At stock, I reckon they are about equal in performance in heavily multi-threaded apps, and the the i7 would walk all over it for gaming or any app that cannot utilize over 4 cores.

If the i9 cannot get to over 3.5Ghz land, an i7 of whatever sort at over 4Ghz would still be a better pick, and cost a ton less.
Well, they are saying that the retail cpus are going to release at speeds similar to the current quads. And I believe there are already a few over 4GHz (on non-extreme cooling) screen shots floating around.

Well, I guess we'll see how well it works out when it comes out officially. But I suspect there will be even less of those sold than they sold 975EEs.

I'd love one, but I ain't buying more CPUs until Sandy Bridge (I have a freaking harem as it is).

lol. I know the feeling. I've purposely held off on upgrading the board an cpu on this rig until 6 or 8 cores released so I could save the money I needed, because I already figured on them being retardedly expensive. lol.

You have no idea how hard it has been to resist buying a 1366 setup so far.

And it's hit 6.4ghz with extreme cooling:

Can't afford it, don't really need it, but do want it

I was *this* close to upgrading my Q9650 setup to an i7 860 rig. I could have done it without spending too much dollar (Sell old rig, buy discounted hardware through work), but I decided I need to curb the addiction. Four quad core systems are enough for a long while

I think Intel need to speed up their lineup and get things moving as quick as possible, instead of maybe thinking that AMD is lagging behind and they can take their time.

I think being complacent like this was *part* of what NVIDIA did wrong with GT200 and now Fermi, they knew ATI was a bit behind so they took their sweetass time and made G92 instead of pushing for GT200 asap, and now theyre behind again...

There seems to have been working i9 silicon for months now, ramp that shit up and get 32nm i3/i5/i7/i9 out there ASAP Intel.

They make better sleepers for the street races. I probably never would have switched if the Mustangs didn't keep gaining weight. I'm always on the lookout for a clean and cheap fox hatch.

My computers are the same. Don't look like much from the outside, but a bunch of high powered components on the inside.
