To anyone with 5800 series ATI cards

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 5970 last night.

Have you successfully set up Eyefinity and are you playing games in absurdly high resolutions?

How bad is the bezel management?

Dell has a few display port monitors for decent prices right now and my wife is willing to get me 3 for Christmas.

Basically I don’t want her to waste her money if Eyefinity is not worth it.

So any help would be appreciated.

ONLY POST IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH ATI 5800+ CARDS PLEASE

That's an example of Poor bezel management...

Now you know...and knowing is half the battle.

Bezel management doesn't exist. He's talking about adjusting the FOV to deal with the 1-inch space.

I have 3x Dell P2310H monitors, with displayport. One 5870 wasn't enough power for me to like it, and Crossfire and 5870's eyefinity doesn't work together, so now I'm waiting for the 5990, if there will be one...I'm hoping someone will build a board with full power phases on the 5970's...

Is it worth it?

Hmmm....for driving sims, yes. For portrait-view FPS...while nice, I have a dell 3007 that punishes VGAs already..and can without the bezel mis-management.

Really? you like hardware that doesn't function well? If so, I've got boxes and boxes of boards, cpus, memory, vgas...none of them work right.

Lemode...you know...I'm in the same shoes as you, but I won't buy dual-gpu until I see more eyefinity reviews.

Seeing on how you've got the card already, let me know how it fares...I really need 60FPS @ 5760x1080, as well as 3240x1920. Although the number of pixels remains the same, performance does not, at least with my time with the 5870.

I tihnk it's a bit silly to even review these cards @ 2560x1600...when obviously they are capable of so much more than just that...and are still cpu-subsystem-limited @ 2560x1600.

i has 5870, but no DP monitor and no active adapter, I'm kinda waiting for the multi card fix, for example, connect first two monitors to DVI on card 1, and 3rd monitor to DVI on card 2, cos I'd rather fork out for another 5870 than for the DP monitor or adapter.

That bezel issue really sucks, I thought they were going to implement bezel management so that it appeared you were looking through a window of sorts and the picture was not like;

EYEFI|-----|NITY - but more like

EYE|-----|TY - if you get what I mean, would look way better.

So my 5970 has an issue. I believe it's driver related. Only one GPU renders in 3D mode in the presence of 3 monitors in extended desktop. Eyefinity sux big time right now

Eyefinity does NOT function well at the moment. It does a decent job, considering it's infancy, and will only get better, but I guess you've not seen posts like this:

Currently, Eyefinity is very much broken. Single card does not give enough performance, at least, not for me, and Crossfire and eyefinity isn't working just yet....even on the 5970. At least, not as well as on the 5870...because the gpus are lower-clocked. Second gpu not being used =FAIL!!!

Without eyefinity...well, yes, the gpus are great, but a 5870 prety much is equal to 2x4890...I got those here too...the 5870, for me, as a multi-monitor gamer, does not meet expectations.

Wolf...FYI..you'll never be able to connect monitors to the slave card, and use it for eyefinity. All monitors must be connected to the same gpu.

I know, I know..what about the 24-screen demo?

4 instances of the game running, each with a different FOV. Considering cpu limitations, you don't want to try to get that working...
