HALP!!!!! =\ my driver is NOT working on XFX 9800 GTx

here are my specs
650 watt psu
Mobo :Asus P5NT Deluxe (nvidia 780i)
Ram : 3GB 800Mhz Kingston Value ram
CPU: Core 2 Duo 4500 (2.20 Ghz)
GPU : XFX 9800 GTX
OS : Window Vista Home 32 Bit
Problem: I updated my driver from 174.74 to 195.65 and in the middle of the installation the screen went blank and didn't come back on for like 20 mins. So i shut my computer off and rebooted. The the boot logo showed but my login screen didn't. I could hear windows starting but i couldn't see it. So i went into safe mode and uninstalled the drivers and then reinstalled them. It still didn't work >.< my graphics card will only work with the 174.74 driver and not with any of the new ones. My screen goes blank anytime i try to upgrade.

Have you tried 191.07? (the latest WHQL non-beta drivers)

using driver cleaner and installing driver 191 didn't work. Maybe its cause i haven't installed SP1.

Firstly, the latest WHQL non-beta drivers are 195.62. Secondly, that is a very strange issue you're having there. I would try a system restore to pre-beta driver install, and then see if the 195.62 WHQL drivers will work (AFTER uninstalling drivers and running DriverSweep).

Maybe it is because you don't have SP1. 174.74 came out over 1.5 years ago.

I installed SP1. Then i booted into safe mode and cleaned my drivers using driver cleaner and then installed the 195.65 and also repeated the process for the 191 driver. My screen is still blank. I also think i have a really old version of driver cleaner. Can you show me where to do get a new version?

I still recommend a system restore back to before this all went wrong. Though I'm not sure if you can do that now that you have installed SP1.

I guess you're gonna have to stick with it if you don't want to keep playing around. Next time you do a clean install maybe you can try the latest WHQL 195s right off the first boot.
