Assuming you'll never unlock the 4th core with that board, I'd say the Athlon II X4 is still better for FSB overclocking.

But both are about equally good for gaming.

Why buy a used 720BE for $100 when you can buy a new 620 for less?

Eh, you have about the same chance on unlocking the extra L3 cache on the 620.

It is base on chance just like unlocking the 720BE.
I got a 620 for my friend last week and it unlocked

Looks like AMD put in some Denebs on purpose:

Well the only AM3 chip with an L3 is the Deneb
His board is the GA-MA790XT-UD4P.

Well, it's not exactly the same probability..

You buy a 720BE. All of them have the 4th core, but not all of them will stay stable with the 4th core activated.

You buy a 620. Not all of them have the L3 cache. If you have luck of getting one with the L3 cache, there's also the probability of it being unstable with the L3 cache activated.

I'd say the probability of unlocking a 4th core in the 720BE is a lot bigger than finding a 620 with "good" L3 cache.

Well the problem of an unstable Core is much greater than an unstable cache.
The 720BE even all of them are Deneb, many of them don't unlock at all.
And the ones that are unlocked aren't always stable.

When memory isn't a concern, it compares to a GTX275 or a HD4890.

However, if we're dealing with 512MB cards here, I would strongly suggest against doing the SLI.

Mainly if you value GTA4, that game depends a lot on video memory for increased quality.
