Thermaltake Launches New Version of the TR2 RX 450W / 550W PSU Series
Thermaltake, leading power supplies, cases and cooling solutions brand, today announced their new version of TR2 RX Series ultra-low noise power supplies. As leading brand in the industry, Thermaltake is constantly updating their product lines to include the latest technology in addition to most up-to-date industrial specifications. The new TR2 RX 450W / 550W Series of power supplies has incorporated an ultra-silent 140mm fan to remove thermal build-up within the enclosure more efficiently and silently.
To support all of today’s PC requirements, the TR2 RX 450W / 550W series comply with the latest ATX 12V V2.3 Standard for utmost reliability and compatibility supporting state-of-the-art technologies. Energy efficiency is improved by double forward switching circuit and power current load on the AC delivery systems is reduced through the implementation of Active PFC. The TR2 RX Series power supply comes standard with one PCI-E 6 pin and one PCI-E 6+2-pin as well as one EPS/ATX 12V 4+4pin connector to power the latest NVIDIA / AMD graphics cards and Intel / AMD processors and a maximum of 6 SATA connectors for optical drives/hard drives. With Over Current, Over Voltage, Over Power and Short-Circuit protection the TR2 RX series offers industry grade protection. ![]() Quality, performance and reliability are the 3 Key Spirits underlying all Thermaltake product design concepts, therefore, the new version of the TR2 RX 450W / 550W also adopt a Japanese made main capacitor to ensure long-term reliability. The TR2 RX 450W / 550W power supplies are an excellent choice for medium size office and entertainment PCs at a highly attractive price point. The TR2 RX 450W (W0146) and the 550W (W0134) will be available at a suggest retail price of $59.99 and $69.99 respectively. |

Well, the marketing sounds great, but with all that buzz you'd think it would be 80+ certified, huh?

I agree, should be 80 plus Bronze or Silver but kudos for the nice low price. I wonder with this now being released if they had time to get it tested.

I have a Thermaltake TR2 470W model and is powering FINE my rig:
PII 940BE oced to 3.6ghz BIOSTAR TA790GX A2+ 4gb ram Mushkin radeon 5850 Asus Xonar audio card. WDC 640AALS caviar black Actually i powered an A64 4200+ oced to 3ghz and 2900xt with a Thermaltake Purepower 430W that died after 8 month. In both cases i had no performance problems. For a decent Gaming rig a 60$ PSU is suficient. |

Just back up your files and hold onto your receipts. If you don't mind going a couple months of the year without a computer there shouldn't be any problem.
