Wait for nVidia to release its new GPU and snap up a DX11 card cheap or go for a HD 5850/HD 5870 if you want speed now. If you want a iX cpu then you also need a mobo upgrade as-well...
Could you tell us how much you are willing to spend?

more gaming performance? IMO a quad at 3.2, even an old kentsfield is still enough for playing. You can get a 5870, or a 5850 for Bang for the buck, then get another and that should do the job
EDIT: DAMN BRAVESOUL U BEAT ME =(

On your current board a Q9550 would be good and there is one member on here that has the same board and CPU with a 4.6ghz clock!

how much faster is the q9550 than my x3210 clock for clock? I mean I know the q9550 pulls a lot less juice at the same speeds which is a plus... but is it reall that much faster than my x3210? I could bump it up to 3.6GHz with out getting it too hot... hell it only hits max of 72c @ 3.92GHz @ full load... |

I've had my Q9450 at 3.4 gh at like 65 full load. But my cooling isnt the greatest but the 45nm clock better with lower voltages
