Sapphire Vapor-X 5770, ONLY 720 Shaders??

I just got a Sapphire Vapor-X 5770 card is silent, runs fine, BUT GPU-Z shows ONLY 720 Shaders. Any ideas what's up??? I've contacted Sapphire support but they responded with:

""I just tested one of the cards I have here, and yes it does have the 720 shaders, the if you are comparing the stream process which is at 800, it is different the GPUZ software does not tell you the stream process the GPU unit has.

Tech""

Hmmm, I think he is trying to say shaders & stream processors are different things. And, that GPU-Z doesn't display stream processors.... I believe Sapphire is Wrong on here. Should show 800 shaders on a 5770.

Anyone else show 720 or are you showing the Proper 800 on your 5770 ?????

See Attached GPU-Z print screen...

It might just be a bug with GPU-Z, try another program such as everest and see what it says.

If more than one program reports 720, I'd return the card and get another brand.

Anyone else with a Sapphire 5770 Card ???

Good idea on the Everest Ultimate, I had tired an older version, just updated to latest and it helps.....

Before I try the whole RMA path, anyone else have a Sapphire 5770 to check these numbers:

GPU-Z reports Only 720 shaders...

Everest Ultimate version 5.30.1900 reports Only nine (9) SIMDs......

Is this a mis-labeled card????? From the above information it appears to be a 5750 and NOT the 5770 I paid for.

More on 5770 issues..

I'm using the ATI 9.12. Running a on Windows 7 Professional (released product no the Beta). I'm going round and round with Tech Support at Sapphire:

""Here is the thing, i just tested another same exact card as you, i am getting 720 shaders as well, if you want to you can send your card in for replacement, you are going to get another HD5770 Vaporx that will show the same numbers of shader you are getting.""

I've sent them a ton of links to Reviews for ALL of the 5000 series cards showing GPU-Z screen shots with:

- 5750 == 720
- 5770 == 800
- 5850 == 1440
- 5870 == 1600

So, shaders as shown in GPU-Z Are the same as Stream Processors. BUT, the Sapphire techs are "stuck" on insisting that GPU-Z shows shaders which are not the same as stream processors. I don't believe they are correct.

SOOOO, I've asked them to focus on explaining why Everest Ultimate only reports nine (9) SIMDs to get past that confusion...

Post the GPU-Z screen in the GPU-Z forum for W1zzard to have a look at. Hopefully he can back you up.

Have a look in ATI Catalyst and give us the hardware device ID.

Take a look at the information in Sandra Si Lite as well.

5770 Bios...

That would great....

GPU-Z shows a BIOS string of : VER012.014.000.004.000000, see attached JPEG of screen shot. If you need more info from the BIOS I'm not sure how to dump the hex, let me know how & I'll send it...

Yeah, both 1st & 2nd level support at Sapphire are lost on the whole shader / stream processor issue.....I've asked them to spin on the SIMDs value of nine (9)....

this might be the case of the 4830 with the wrong bios again. Send Wizzard your bios code so he can test it because his board i believe has the true 5770 bios. Now unless if the board got packed the wrong way (5770 when in fact its a 5750)

Sounds like some boards either are being packed wrong or are coming with the wrong bios.

if they are being Idiots over there

send them these 2 links

You don't call them shaders, call them stream processors.

http://www.amd.com/us/products/deskt...fications.aspx

http://www.amd.com/us/products/deskt...fications.aspx

I would also ping the forums at the ATI site, just remember to call them the Stream Processors, not shaders.

also did you make a post here?

If it's the same person the topic starter spoke with; they won't waste their time to come over to these forums to assist you in your issues. Ive seen so many bunk tech support personnel, they are there because that is the only thing they can do and they hate their job most of the time. If I could I'd request to speak to someone else or the Head of the Tech-support section, or request to speak with their boss.

coming straight off my card with 800 shaders ... but PLEASE make a backup of your bios first, button to the right of the gpu-z bios version readout can save your bios (and send it to me: w1zzard@techpowerup.com or upload via gpuz)
