win7 cant install messenger

i just finish installing windows 7 on my loptop and when i try to install
Yahoo messenger it says cant be intall check firewall settings. plz help

Are you using the online based installer? If so you can check firewall settings by typing within the start menu "windows firewall" and from there check to see if you had/have blocked the installer program.

yah your right.. i already go to the firewall but i dont know where to change the settings..

When you're there already check out the Left hand pane of the window. Look for "Inbound Rules" and "Outbound Rules" check to see if yahoo installer is blocked.

When you see it there go to middle pane and right click on the rule that blocks it and click "Disable".

so you know whats happening, the yahoo installer no longer installs the application, but follows the stupid trend of downloading the program through a downloader.

as you just saw, this screws up when firewalls and such block the download app from downloading the actual program you wanted in the first place

The thread starter if you want you can check yahoo site for latest version of the messenger then search for an offline installer from there.. I can't remember how to download the full offline installer off yahoo's site tho, sorry.
