I've had a search but didn't quite come up with anything. Basically I wanted to know in a push pull configuration like this:

Intake fan > shroud > rad > shroud > exhaust fan

Should I have:
1) Same fans to do the pushing and the pulling.
2) Better push fan than pull fan. Edit: (Higher CFM fan pushing, lower CFM fan pulling)
3) Better pull fan than push fan. Edit: (Higher CFM fan pulling, lower CFM fan pushing)

Also, if anyone can give me any tips if I am overdoing the thing with shrouds on both ends let me know. It's for the Corsair H50, so I want the optimum cooling from it. Thanks in advance.

I spent a few minutes thinking really really hard and summoning all my physics knowledge, and I came to the conclusion that if one of those three possibilities would be the best, I say better push than pull.

Altho I do think that it dos not have any measurable influence. But feel free to prove me wrong.

Was kinda hoping someone would say better push :)

I was looking for the pro's to save me the trouble of spending a couple hours going through each configuration. Thanks

I'd wait for a few other, probably more established opinions. I mean I could be completely wrong lol.

OK, did a little more searching until I found pretty much what I wanted to know:

http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpost.php?p=1657208&postcount=6

Thanks to Binge for that post. Better pull than push is the answer :pimp:

im sorry i dont see how your reading that graph in relationship to this post..

Eric (vapor) was testing the results on what happened when you used mismatch fans.
Not on the independant aspect of push and pull.

if u want a better graph, my friend martin has stomped this subject.
The final concensus was what RAD are you running, and how was it optimised.

On a PA, we see better results going from push... while on a MCR its better to pull.

Theres actually 1 more better graph, however XS is having some isp problems so i cant really dig it out for you guys.

On the Corsair H5O i would just recomend u go with BOTH push/pull.
Have fans on both ends.

But remember your water temp can only go as low as ambient.

Thanks for clearing that up. Well mismatched fans are what I had, a Scythe UK2 and 2xS-Flex 1600 so was looking in which configuration I'd see the best performance. That's why I thought the post by vapor and comment by binge were the answer I was looking for. Sorry I've not really studied/researched anything in water before, hence the need for the thread.

I just got 2 Gentle Typhoons since they were recommended for rads on some other thread. Those will be connected to a fan controller so I can play around easily with their speeds to find the sweet-spot. Would you say it's better to use 25mm fans modded as shrouds in between the fans and rad, or to place the fans directly in contact with the rad?

EDIT: By Better pull fan than push fan I meant that the higher CFM fan is in the pull position of the push pull
