GTX 275 VRMs 100C ??????
This GTX 275 I have seems to be having a problem. The VRMs are going upto nearly 100C while gaming after only 5 mins in GRID.
![]() Is this normal ? The card I have is the Galaxy GTX 275 Tri Fan edition. ![]() I have noticed that there is a passive heatsink under the cooler that uses push pin method, and doesn't go all the way down to touch some electric components under it. Can i replace this heatsink or make it go all the way down ? |

Isn't 100C pretty normal for VRMs?

With that cooling plate on the VRM's, same as what I have on my 260 (the AC Extreme GTX cooler), my VRM's get warmer than the factory cooling solution. But not that hot...though, my card is older and am running an OC that only needs 1.0v using EVGA GVT which helped out a bit. I know the 280's ran pretty hot on VRM's and some guys have used other methods because that plate design doesn't work as well as it should, though the VRM's can take the heat. Blame Arctic Cooling and others that use that VRM plate, it does an OK job, but could be better.

Pop in to my Accelero thread (in the signature), if you want to know more about the cooler.
Under 100C is actually pretty good, nothing to worry about. Just wondered about the "there is a passive heatsink under the cooler that uses push pin method" part. GTX 275 has totally different PCB and that Accelero VRM sink should not fit. I take that picture isn't from you card? Unless Galaxy took old GTX 260 PCBs and slapped a GTX 275 core there. Then again if it was GTX 275 PCB you wouldn't have VRM Tempereture readings But those Volterra VRMs are a bitch to cool and you don't have the stock cooler to do a mod. Options left would be to lower voltage/alter fan speed higher from lower temperatures.

I can certainly say that, unlike my previous GTX 280, the GTX 275 vrm temps. cannot be monitored. The pcb photo posted is not a GTX 275.
Are you sure you have a GTX 275
