Which is better? UT2004 or UT3
I reinstalled UT2004 and remembered what I liked about it. The differences between them are: different classes, adrenaline pills, the bunny hopping, the weapons and most importantly the maps. So, I was wondering if any else noticed any differences and preferred one over the other?
BTW: It's hard to believe but there are plenty of servers with people still playing UT2004 . Another thing is that UT2004 installs an icon in Games on Win7. Other old games don't do that (COD4, etc).

Definitely UT'04.
I used to play Unreal Tournament '04 all the time on my moms old dell computer, it lagged like hell at times, but i loved it. Very fast paced game with loads of awesome maps. I have UT3, and i don't play it at all. I just can't get into it for some reason.

well heres the THing, Epic Games was bitten by the Console Bug, if you look at all internal settings they are for the console, TBH I think they Should look at what made UT99 and 2004 Awesome.

2004 of course! Ut3 was good just for the alien tripods, other than that it was utter... But for me personally, the best ut will remain ut99, the atmosphere, the music, it was kickass!

I loved Sniping and the Crossbow, later UT games are bleh when it comes to that. I also enjoyed several of the UT99 maps, i swear they are better than later UT versions, also the amt of Obstacles/Traps, aka the Pressure Room, Getting Crushed or Sliced up or falling down a shaft were awesome.

UT3 is definitely dumb as hell. I miss the old-school UT days. Good clean fun, not running around at light speed in some dark arena where you can't see shit.

It would be nice if epic would re-release either ut99 or 2k4 using the unreal3 engine...kind of like what croteam has done with serious sam. As an earlier poster said, ut3 was a victim of consoles....I hate consoles, they have destroyed gaming.

Frankly, not really as odd as you'd think and it's awesome especially when I get a nostalgia kick and want to play an old game online. Obviously not every once-popular title still has people playing but in the last 6 months I have played multiplayer games of Unreal (Coop, DM and the Infiltration mod), Half Life DM (not source), Tribes 2, UT, Quake 2, Battefield 1942 (vanilla and Forgotten Hope), Battlefield Vietnam and AvP2. The only one I've tried recently that had no servers even listed was Rune (man I was bummed lol).

ut2004 is much much better. I played it for hours on end, was my fav game at one point a few years ago. Was very excited about UT3 but when it came out it was such an epic fail that i put it on the shelf. Dusted it off a while ago to try the titan pack but it doesn't save the game, its simply just not as funs as ut2004. Whay did they do with wall dodge anyway?

Because it would be hard to perform on a console...
![]() UT99 and UT2004 FTW! ![]() Doh, I remember playing UT99 on my 166MHz Pentium MMX OCed to 200MHz and S3 Virge + VooDoo 1 combo. Those were neat days.

UT99 was the best. I'm still shooting on Deck16.

Without a doubt! I loved UT99!! Probably the best Multiplayer PC game of all time if you ask me. I wish Epic would have taken that gameplay and added new maps and better graphics. The user console was the best. You could tweak almost anything. Not to mention the mods. Maybe Epic will release something at least 'as Cool' as UT99 for PC and then port it over to console instead of the other way around. I could re-discover gaming all over again.

The Giblets looked like Jello in UT2K4 where as the Giblets in UT99 Looked like body parts and organs.
