Update: Medal of Honor: A Tale of Two Engines

Man this is going to be good!

Medal of Honor: A Tale of Two Engines

A few official Medal of Honor tweets hit the internet earlier today revealing that the single-player and multiplayer portions of the series reboot won't share the same game engine. The single-player portion is being developed by EA Los Angeles, and developer DICE is handling the multiplayer.
A tweet from "#MOH" (EA Los Angeles), and another from EA Community Manager @matthewpruitt confirm that the single-player portion of the game will use a "heavily-modified Unreal 3 engine."

Another tweet from DICE Frostbite developer "@repi" let more information slip:

@repi: Guess it is out today: EALA uses a heavily-modified Unreal Engine 3 for Medal of Honor SP and we, DICE, use Frostbite for the MP portion
This was quickly followed by another confirmation from @matthewpruitt:

@matthewpruitt: I guess the cat's out of the bag. Medal of Honor's multiplayer will be using the Frostbite engine.
Bluesnews also notes that a Planet Medal of Honor post summarizing the revelations points to an interesting quote from a hands-on preview of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 out of IGN.com's UK office. In the preview, DICE President Patrick Bach comments on potential similarities between Medal of Honor's multiplayer and that of DICE's Bad Company 2. "I think it would be hard to not have anything feed in [from Battlefield]," said Bach. "We're using the Frostbite engine and it's amazing to see how it can build a completely different experience," he clarified.

Medal of Honor is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in Fall of 2010.

Figures, EA takes the easy way out with UE3, should still be more than fine, Gonna be a great game either way.

Its MT Framework, and Lost Planet 2 is using it, not UE3. Capcom has alot of pride in their engine, they would never get rid of it.

"Cliff Bleszinski Explains it All - Gears of War in Your Lost Planet 2"

Well that was a bit unexpected, no? Personally, I'm pretty excited about the possibility of playing as Gears of War's Marcus and Dom in Lost Planet 2, but you're probably wondering how this whole thing came about, right? Epic's Cliff Bleszinski has the deets for you over on Kotaku:

How did this crossover happen?

Capcom contacted Epic. It seems that it's as simple as that.

"They [Capcom] contacted us about the cameo and we said 'heck yeah,'" Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski tells Kotaku. "We're mutual fans of each other's work and crossovers are darned cool so we sent over the Marcus and Dom models for implementation."

I believe UE3 is good for animations since it has really good colision detection, so for a SP campaign its awesome

Why not just use Frostbite for the whole game, if I can knock down walls in MP but not in SP, I might have to cry.
