So is that lucid hydra chip then coming on any X58 board? Looks like that is not the case, well at least from msi's roadplan.

Over the years I've bought many different MB,, asus has been the top RMA board for me. Any board is hit or miss. msi is stepping up there game.

It's pointless to speculate on the chipset cooling until we see a final production model and get some tests done on it. The X58 certainly can get hot with a heavy PCI-Express load, despite the memory controller being on the CPU.
It's also pointless to choose a board based on brand alone. I've seen terrible Asus boards and a couple awesome Foxconns. Brand means something but choose a board for its particular model, not its brand. |

Hmm well seeing as my personal MoBo fave is now dead(Abit) This looks like not a bad choice for my next upgrade I have been avoiding for lack of something that piques my interest. Never been a fan of Asus and Gigabyte have burned me in the past(not too mention I have no love for their BIOS's in the OC dept.) so MSI look like they may have my interest.

i will never buy a msi board again... simply for the customer service i recieved from them.
this board does look nice and i hope its of better quality.. they seem to want to offer the enthisiast all they want but they need to work on their customer service and QA

Those heatsinks that are on the prototype look identical to the ones on the Pro-E and my X58M. As long as the thermal paste is decent, the temperatures are suprisingly acceptable (the ICH10R chipset on mine hovers in the upper 40's to lower 50's at load). I'm confident the final product will be cooler.
MSI has been hit or miss with my experience. Their best stuff has been their video cards -especially the twin frozr designs. I've gone through two of their motherboards and although one was a lemon, I would be happy to buy another one of their motherboards if they continue making good products for great prices... -I feel they've really got some snazzy motherboards as of late. This thing will definitely cater to those who want stable juice with a nice overvolt. |

MSI seems to have been coming out with a bunch of quality boards recently, let's hope they can keep the quality up.

Pretty sweet
Its lookin sweet. I've never had a problem w/ an MSI board. That's all I stick with. Yea, sometimes u do get a dud but u can't down them cause of that.
It sure is nice seeing them away from there ugly board colors. I wanna see green instead of blue. All u see is blue or red. Kinda throws off ur color scheme if ur doing one. |

I did...
I'm not talking about the VRM cooler, I'm talking about the X58 -ICH chipset cooling, unless thats what you meant in the first post. ![]() The chipset cooling doesnt seem to be adequate. Im aware that the VRM coolers have not been added yet. |

And I had assumed that had just been regarding the VRM cooling part.
