nothing comes with hdmi cables
hdmi v1.3 would be preferable
hdmi will output 480i/p 720i/p and 1080i/p depending on what it is connected to

6 foot is a lot longer than you think and will be long enough for 95% of applications in homes. It is a good general size to ensure you have flexibility, though you may want to measure to see if a 3 foot cable will work if you are really a stickler for cable management and clutter.

Does it matter? Yes and No.

The only standards you need to know for HDMI are 1.3 and 1.4. 1.4 is a whole new animal and your PS3 does not support it, so just buy 1.3 which 99% cables will be. It has nothing to do with how the cable is made, just how it is test and all of them will work.

Gold plating, braided, PS3 certified, anything Monster Cables said ever, is all BS to get a sell. Start with Newegg.com or Amazon and get the cheapest HDMI 1.3 cable you can buy. You should spend between $5 to $12 for well built cable.

HD TV's almost never come with HDMI cables. This is because most of them are sold out of stores like Wally World and Best Buy. They know you will need the cable and they own most of the companies that sell them in Wal-mart. This is why HDMI cables in stores are like $7 a foot because they charge more to make up for the TV being cheaper than normal. It is a scam, don't fall for it.

Like said before, resolution is up to your TV and PS3, not the cable. Set the PS3 to run video in the TV's native resolution so the TV doesn't have to scale it up or down. It will look better in the long run.

ahh ok i think i see.

and one more question what about the TV itself.... does it need HDMI to be connected to the TV to be able to get HD picture? so i use hdmi cable to ps3.... when im done playing ps3... i unplug and plug it to the tv for the tv to get hd picture?

Well the TV will only get an HD picture from an HD source. It does not have to be connected to that source by a HDMI cable. Component can run an image up to 1080i if I am not mistake and cable can transmit an HD signal.

Simply put, PS3 connect to TV via HDMI = HD picture. You are not going to unplug the cable unless you have an HD cable box and you don't have a second cable.
