1920 x 1080 22" monitor: Digital Vs Analog?

My bro-in-law wants a new 22" monitor. He can get an analog (VGA) LG TFT for £130 or the same monitor (nearly) but with digital inputs (HDMI/DVI-D) for £190. Both monitors are 1920 x 1080 and he would be running his gaming system on it that has an HD5850 installed.

So what Im wondering is should he spend the extra cash on the digital? (personally, I thought yes)

System Specs

I may be wrong, but doesn't it have to have a digital signal to be HDCP compliant?

Exactly what I thought. The beasty HD5850 has an HDMI port so why not make the most of it
