Alan Wake For PC Officially Cancelled.

Bunch of reports and articles have now arisen that the PC version of Alan Wake is now done for.

Microsoft's statements:
Quote:
"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen,"
Quote:
"We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform."

Microsoft is treating this game like it will be the next big thing, but I don't think anyone really gives a damn about it.

With the exception that Remedy are the creators. They've only made 3 games but those games were AWESOME. I have tons of respect for them, and it is kinda sad that the PC version is cancelled. I see their point though, but still.

THe saddest thing though is that they are not the makers of Max 3.

I doesnt matter if you guys aren't interested in the game, but the decision to do what they did was a major hit to the PC community, if that practice eventually becomes more common, i mean saying its not the right plataform? WTF, PC is always the right plataform. Geez!

I've been pissed off at the fact that consoles > PC's as a gaming platform for years now... Don't even get me started.

Alan Wake was used to show off multi-core processing back at Intel's '06 Developers forum.

Heres a video of it all:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3HybhZjcGE

There we go, yeah i remember back in the days being awed by watching that video, but everything there looks pretty common now a days. I also think this game is better off for a console since its all silent hill'ish

That's a pathetic excuse.

Anyway, the game has been on going since when? 2003/20004? I guess they are getting close to finished (finally) but it isn't a game I was ever going to run out and buy.

Microsoft hasn't made a good PC game since 2005 (Fable: The Lost Chapters). Microsoft is releasing fewer and fewer titles to PC.

Uhh...you can have a gaming PC connected to a large screen and play from the couch (using Xbox 360 controllers), too. Besides why would the developers care how people play it?

Hurting PC gaming is bad. Games are some of the only things that stand between people's choice of Windows and other operating systems.

I was going to get it for PC but even if they did ever do that i would not now as i hate console control type games.

I just lost all respect for Remedy, they were one of my favorite devs for the work they did with the Max Payne games. Its a shame really, this game looked very good. Although I have a 360, I'll prolly avoid this one for a while out of disgust.

I'l let you guys know how it is (if it ever gets here!)

But, seriously, it is bullshit what they are claiming 'swayed' them to a console only release. A lot of people game on a PC in their living room with a control pad. I think you will find its like someone else said "the technology behind this game has been and gone" (PC wise)

Im still looking forward to it, but it better NOT suck ass!!!

If it were any publisher other than Microsoft, I'd say it would have a chance at a late release on PC (if the Xbox 360 version had success). Microsoft doesn't care about Windows gaming as demonstrated with Halo, Fable, and the remnants of MechWarrior.

I still feel the same way I did the last time you posted this CD

http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=99353

No PC port = no money from me.

And if MS doesn't want to put any effort into Windows as a gaming platform? I'll need one license of Windows 8, not four. Everyone here gets around just fine in Gnome.

Honestly, I can kind of agree. There hasn't been a successful survival horror on PC yet. That is one genre that consoles have nailed to the wall. Not really all that disappointed, it should rock on the 360.
