HDMI better than DVI or the same?
Looking to purchase one of the two monitors. One has HDMI and the other does not. HDMI compatible is 1.5" larger screen and is $40 more.

I read that HDMI and DVI boost the same video quality? |

HDMI is DVI(-HDCP) basically, they changed the connector so that it can be used on more digital appliances to replace the old analogue ones (S-Video, SCART)
Either-way, you should fill in your System Specifications so that we know what your rig is. As for which is better, for me it boils down to this....  VS  ... I prefer smaller connectors and cables tbh. However, my 4870 has HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort and VGA so I've covered all bases. There shouldn't be any visual differences between HDMI and DVI. As for the monitors, get the largest one you can.

Visually, as already stated, they are the same.
I would go with the 21.5", as it has a 1920x1080(FullHD) resolution compared to the 1600x900 resolution of the 20".

No difference in picture quality between DVI and HDMI. If one monitor has HDCP and the other doesn't, get the one with HDCP. No HDCP feature means no Blu Ray on that display.

Just filled out the system specs. Both Monitor support HDCP.
I think the 21.5 is too big. I don't know, I'll take some measurement when I get home. |

The only reason to use HDMI over DVI is if you want to use integrated speakers in the monitor. If it doesn't have integrated speakers, they are one in the same.
DVI and HDMI support HDCP so long as the video card (HD 4### series does) and monitor (both you listed do) support it.

HDMI connectors are pretty weak. Breaks easier than DVI.

Ok, I go the 21.5" monitor. Looks amazing, but the vertical screen size is the same as my Sony 17" monitor. lol wth..
The only difference is this screen is hella wide... I would prefer if the screen was a bit bigger vertically just by an inch or so. But anyways, zero dead pixels. The colors needs to be adjusted. It's a little off. |
