Forum Left Behind After Front Page Makeover?

So the front page got a perfectly beautiful/functional makeover a while back with a new logo and everything; the works. Yet the forums are still the same old logo, colors, etc. How come no love for the forums?

The front wasn't broken either. Just outdated. The forum looks good though. Looks isn't that important in a forum anyway.

I never said I didn't like the forums now, I just think a new banner that matches the front page (or even the general nonsense forums) would make everything a little more cohesive. I'm obviously in the minority here, but it's still interesting to hear opinions.

Agreed, it'd be nice to see the "new look" on the forums too. But, like many other changes that just aren't going to happen around here, it'd be more work than anyone is willing to put into it, methinks.

Before that they were an open public space in a Roman city.

On topic though. Someone design a new banner, show it to W1zzard, and if he likes it he might use it. I don't think he has time to design a new one himself.

We can say design new art as much as we want, but at the end of the day someone actually has to do it.

it would be cool if in the user cp we could select are own theme and colors but that would be hard and take time. i also think the current layout looks good, but you never know a new style may bring more people into the forums

That goes without saying—and personally, I put function over form. However, you'd have a hard time arguing that the face on anything (a business, a product, or a web site) doesn't matter. The look/style/theme of a web site is the first thing most people take notice of. The main reason I agree it'd be a good idea to update the forums is that when there's a complete visual disconnect between a site and its forums, there's a lack of continuity and flow that disrupts the integration of all that the site has to offer. In this case it has little to do with how "pretty" a banner is.

Which is why I say, that looks great, erocker. Goes with the rest of the site.

That all said, however, "if it works, don't fix it" is something I've accepted is the norm here; the community here at TPU has shown great opposition to change. That's fine with me personally, as I'm here for the people, not the look.

Yeah... things do tend to fall that way and I'm often guilty of being in opposition to change (for better or worse). That being said I would be happy to see a new banner, I'm just reluctant to commit myself or anyone else to designing it.

Anything to do with the mechanics or layout of the website(s) is entirely W1zzard's territory. For this specific change he's really the one you need to convince.
