Ah, so the game requires Steam then. The best you can do is play in offline mode with Steam. Have you tried going into the Steam folder to run the mw2 executable from there?

COD4 has a --nosteam command line argument that I've been using since I found out about it (a little bit after the game came out). Can't say if MW2 has it though but all you have to do is add --nosteam to the end of the Target in the shortcut properties and give it a go.

Right click on the MW2 MP shortcut, go to Properties, and add --nosteam to the end of the 'Target' input box.

Things get worse and worse. There is a no steam patch out on the internetz if you feel like Googling it up.

No idea about controller. If I wanted controller I would use consoles FFS.

yes, you should be able to use a controller for mw2, just make sure your computer and mw2 rcongnises your controller and the controls "should" auto asign.

Agreed. Mouse and KB FTW in any FPS.

He asked if he could play with a controller, not for snide remarks about why he shouldn't. If you aren't going to help him out, don't post!

Blackjack, you should be able to use a controller with MW2. Check here for some options.

Yea I hate using the keyboard so I use a combination of the whole left side of my logitech analog controller and a mouse. I use a program called xpadder to imitate my keyboard on my analog stick. It works like a charm I use the controller for movement and the mouse for looking a PWNING

The illegal copies get around it, so I can't comment on it. But yes, it can be done.

If you purchased the game through steam, I don't think you can. You need steam to be on and logged in to play any game ordered through it....I believe. Retail copies do not need steam as they was not the purchase playform.

You can use a controller, so map to the controls better than others do.

I wasn't trying to be snide. I was just trying to inform, that if he hasn't tried it with a mouse/kb to give it a few tries before jumping on the controller (I thought maybe he was a migrant from consoles to PC)...I didn't mean to offend. Anyway, after hearing how he uses a controller stick with a mouse, this is a SICK idea. I might even have to give it a go myself.

Just want to be clear that I did not mean to offend, was just offering a friendly opinion that mouse/kb is win in FPS.

If the game require Steam to work, retail copy or steam download its the same. MW2 require steam to work (they said that before they released the game).

In GTA4 i use the controller to move and drive, and the mouse to aim and shoot, the best of both worlds.

Didn't know they were a Steam exclusive. I don't like the game and never played it.

I do the same as you for GTA4 for most FPS K&M for everything, controller for flying.
